Jesus Lence initially expert in profession, he set up in the year 1963 with a loan of 300,000 pesetas, which would be his first company: a service station in Corgo (Lugo).

Due to the debts that a milk carrier had with him, he made his business (two trucks and three tanks) and in a couple of years he had already transported milk from France to all the plants in Spain.

After success in the transport of milk, it launches to package and commercialize its own product, which is born in 1975 the company Refrileche. The innovation that this company implements in the sector is the use of cold tanks and tanks, which means an improvement in the collection and distribution system.

Later, Lance S.L. Dairy comes up. Created in 1981, dedicated to packaging, which is the next step in the company towards vertical integration in dairy production. In the year 1998, it changed its name and became known as Leite Río S.L. In this period, a large growth of production is experienced and the capacity goes from 25,000 liters per week to 700,000 liters per week.

It also begins to diversify towards fruit juices and the water market. In addition, improvements have been made to the system and the agreements with livestock farmers continue (including new livestock hygiene measures or subsidies for cold tanks).

As a curiosity, as he has already stated on several occasions, Jesus Lence came to the dairy sector by chance: "I did not kill a cow in my life." The closest to one was in a photographic session for the magazine Gigantescando presided over the Leite Rio Breogán. "They asked me to approach me and that he touched a horn, but the horns were very scared."

Grupo Leche Rio S.A. is the dairy company that processes more milk from Galicia, which is the most important milk producing region in Spain, where 40% of all Spanish milk is produced. Approximately 17% of the milk collected in Galicia in 2012 was collected by Grupo Leche Rio S.A., which makes us leaders ahead of any other company. We currently have 4 packaging plants, one located in Vega de Anzuelos - Láncara (Lugo), the other two, in the industrial estate of O Ceao (Lugo) and the fourth in the Polígono de Sabón - Arteixo - A Coruña.

A basic factor to prevent overweight: The document 'Nutritional and metabolic importance of milk', prepared by specialists in Nutrition, concludes that the consumption of cow's milk is a "basic factor" in the prevention of overweight and obesity due to its «Direct effect on dietary habits and the effect of its components, mainly calcium, on lipid metabolism and adipocyte formation». Dietary changes in patients with overweight, obesity and cardiovascular disease due to the increase in fruit consumption , vegetables and skimmed milk products proved to be effective in weight loss and in the maintenance phase.Relation The study relates a higher calcium intake with a greater loss of body weight, adipose tissue and decrease of fat in the abdominal region The beneficial role of milk in weight control is linked to its calcium content, a type of protein with a substantial presence of certain amino acids or fatty acids. The consumption of milk proteins can also contribute to the "energy balance" by participating in the control of appetite.

In most cases, mothers are forced to make the decision to provide their newborn babies with breast milk, as there is some social pressure towards it. However, it is not always possible, therefore, we want to list the benefits of artificial milk. The first thing is to point out that breastfeeding is not always the most positive option, since there are babies who never reach the breast of mothers because of the extra effort they have because they do not have much strength or because of the pain those mothers breastfeed their children, among other causes. By feeding the baby with artificial milk a mother can have more freedom, take the baby's dose prepared or ask for help from someone. In these cases, the involvement of the father is greater and with that, the relationship between them begins to work. Bottle feeding is faster than when breastfeeding, it takes approximately 15 minutes, and breastfeeding one hour. Formula milk is more expensive to digest than breast milk, so the baby can have a longer lasting feeling of fullness. Weaning is a simpler process when a baby is fed artificial milk. One of the main benefits of artificial milk is that it has been prepared under optimal sterility conditions and has a large amount of nutrients. A mother who does not breastfeed her baby may soon begin to have her previous habits of both feeding and treatment, medication and exercise. These are some of the aspects that we have taken into account in our company to carry out our future project, which in this case would be, develop different types of artificial milk with the best nutritional values for the smallest of the house, and this so that we can offer our products to a wider range of clients.

In the same way that breast milk is considered the best food for an infant, the consumption of cow's milk is fundamental for the growth and development of the child. A study by the European Food Safety Authority reflects that the diet of European children is not as balanced as would be desirable for proper growth

One of the concerns is that children get to take the recommended amounts of vitamin D, which are found in foods such as milk or some of its derivatives such as yogurt or cheese.

Experts warn that the consumption of cow's milk should be done in its proper measure to meet the needs of vitamin D and calcium.

As a minimum, they recommend taking two glasses of milk a day to cover the needs of this mineral, which is essential for the formation of bones and other body structures.

These calcium needs are very high for physical development, both in childhood and adolescence, although statistics suggest that only a fifth of girls and half of children consume the recommended amount of calcium.

Milk, cheese and yogurt not only provide calcium, but also other minerals that are very important for bone development, such as phosphorus and magnesium.
