This piece caught my eye because I think the contrast between the material and the original object is humorous. The original controller is supposed to be about quickness and technology, while concrete/fossilization is about ancient heaviness. It also makes me think about what future civilizations will think of us when they find the remnants of our society, and we aren't around anymore to explain it.  2. Most of the time when we think of concrete as a material, we think of utilitarian uses like buildings, parking lots, or maybe fountains, etc. I like that this artist is using concrete for a sculptural purpose without a typical use or function. 3. This sculpture looks more lively and mysterious than any other sculpture I have seen before, the way the artist created the sculpture makes it seems like the horses ran straight out from the wall. In the image, I see a lot of plastic utensils as the base for the horses’ bodies but what stood out the most from this sculpture to me is the wires. These wires add motion to the sculpture and make the horses more lively. It is mindblowing to know that such a beautiful masterpiece was created out of the garbage that we throw away daily, there is no limit to art after all.

I have no idea how the artist created this piece, like how he was able to stick (?) or carve the buildings into the circle in the most detailed way possible. When I searched up “wood”, I noticed that most pieces of wood have an inner circle in the center that is slightly darker than the outer circle, so this artwork stood out to me because the artist for this artwork did a great job of delivering its message to us while keeping the shape and structure of the piece of wood itself. I feel that the artist wanted to tell us how humans have done the impossible over time, as long as we stand by each other (the buildings are connected) there is always a spark of hope somewhere (the gap in the middle that the buildings created which looks like a spark of light). I feel that this sculpture took him a very long time to finish, it is a very detailed and precise, fantastic sculpture.

This is so unique because glass cracking is a natural reaction and the artist took advantage of that to create such beautiful portraits, his art looks so free yet captive and meaningful in some ways I cannot describe. The techniques used to create this ring is by hammering, bezel-set/stone-setting, twisting, soldered, and stamped. Stamped or hallmarked meaning the artist has initialed, named, or symboled the pieces for credit/authentication. In fact, stamping appeared in 1932 and most jewelry from before the 1930s usually didn't stamp their work. Turquoise is believed to be the happiest stone and is used both in jewelry and ritual purposes for luck, peace, health, and protection. Initially what caught my eye was the stone, turquoise is such a flawless stone to me. I have Yaqui bloodline and was fascinated to learn they created such an instrument. Delegation photography was a routine part of any state visit with many portrait studios profiting from the business. According to tribal history, in October 1881, the Otoe walked across the state of Kansas to their new home in northern Oklahoma, where they live today. Initially, the "No Facial Expression" look caught my attention. This drawing in particular depicts a fantasy, what appeared to be an almost human-like form repeating itself over and over. This is Mahasthamapraptam.  He represents the power of wisdom or "arrival of great strength."  Also part of the Buddhist history and higher being that people believe in, have faith in, and look up to.  

I picked this because it reminded me of the statues at the temples that I go to.  Marble is a softer material to cut (sculpture), easy to chip.  The spiritual figure is wearing a headpiece, seems to be holding fabric/clothing, and coverings on the lower-half in a diplomatic stance.  The detailed work for a material that can easily be damaged or brittle did not show any "errors" or "flaws" w/in the sculpture.  
I want to know how this was done. What material was used to cut and sculpt this.

This was built w/ hardened limestone by Khafre Menkaure. This wasn't finished.  It was founded by both Harvard University and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston in 1908 as part of the joint expedition in Giza.  Inside a workshop, they found more unfinished sculptures.  

I picked this because though this piece wasn't completed, the material used was made of good quality limestone. The idea of the statue is showing a king in the traditional pose. I don't think anything abstract would be created during this time because that would be a dishonor.

This isn't about an art piece, but this is about restoration.  The city of Beirut was in ruins,  The Archeological Museum at the American University was effected.  The destruction caused a case displaying over 70 pieces to shatter.  From sorting the pieces and piecing the puzzle is a time induced project.  

The picture is a set of four completed vessels.

Rob Heard crafted the homes out of branches. This sculpture captured my eye since I found its unique design to be rather captivating. I suppose that it took the artist a considerable amount of time to create. Because the designs do not follow to a certain plan or technique, and each piece is unique, I found this item to be more intriguing than any other wood sculpture I found on the internet. They evolve and flow freely, as part of a creative journey with no intrinsic limit, yet displaying incredible logic and engineering rigor. There are no dead-ends, and every turret and tower is reachable. I believe the worth of the object stems from the artist's conception and the time it took to construct and add all those elements.

Chris Gilmour created a cardboard Aston Martin. How wonderful is it that this artwork is an automobile created entirely out of cardboard? The engagement with the works seems to generate a kind of short circuit in the viewer: you wish you could open the vehicle door or turn the bike's wheel, but you can't. It is a fascinating effect to see, and I believe that this immediacy is necessary for the viewer to be drawn into the piece. This sculpture caught my eye because of how much work must have gone into making it. Honestly, looking at Dale Chihulys work, I really couldn't chose one photo. He is very talented and all his pieces were beautiful. All his pieces seem complex, and seemed like they needed to take a long time to do. It's absolutely amazing it's 43 feet and with a ceiling. I'm sure it transmits light absolutely beautifully. This caught my eye because the piece was stolen from The Blenheim Palace during the artist's show.  A successful burglary carried out overnight, of a gold toilet. Can't get anymore interesting. What was also interesting about this piece was it was located in a fifth floor restroom where people actually used it as a regular toilet. The piece expressed how, in modern times, the overly rich and the poor all ultimately connect with a toilet. It's an Aztec art piece made a great while ago so I can't tell you the artists name. I picked this because I like the symbolism this gave me, it reminded me of a double edged sword. Snakes features seem to be in gods that many people worship throughout history, representing power. The double headed snake represents rebirth, the snake can shed its skin and be reborn. For the glass piece, I believe the value comes mainly from the level of difficulty in making this great piece. For being so tall, so many different colors, and having to heat the glass to mold it to fit his image.

For the oil painting, I believe the value in the painting comes from the concept and idea the artist had. What she wanted to make the other person feel when looking at it just like I how I did.

For the stone piece, I believe the value comes mainly from what the artist is trying to express through the art. The idea and concept he had is what makes the pieces value. 

For the gold piece, I definitely think that the material has to do with the pieces value. If it was made from something else somebody wouldn't have desired it so much to steal it, or people just would not care as much. The idea he portrays through this piece is also important though and adds value too.

For the Mosaic piece I believe the history is what mainly gives it value. Yet upon close inspection you see the detailed leaf skeletons that runs through the bohdi leaves. Posturing as two leaves, the sculpture itself is actually primarily made of paper. Sekimachi's attempt to imitate real plant leaves using paper is fascinating and made this piece of art standing out from the rest of the paper based arts. Based on observation, the majority of Two Bodhi Leaves' value comes from the artistic and skill value of Sekimachi herself. It's not the best looking house, it's not the safest house, etc, but it gets the job done and was created from what people had without the use of heavy machinery or tools we have. I imagine this is the type of house we lived in hundreds of years ago and how it's no longer a norm.

The fact that the artists were able to install over 7,500 massive steel gates throughout Central Park is impressive in and of itself, but the fact that they were able to do so in a way that enhanced the beauty of the park and created a unique and memorable experience for visitors is truly remarkable.
