• Another advantage of using Blogger was that I was able to share my blog posts with my peers and teachers, enabling me to receive feedback throughout the process. As these stakeholders could comment on the blog posts, I could gain an outside opinion on what they thought of my drafts/reports/analysis, thus guiding and indicating the best appropriate direction of development for my product portfolio would be throughout the project. 

• Furthermore, one other advantage I found when using Blogger was that the platform is completely free to use as you please, without any limitation as it an application that is integrated into Google’s search engine. As a result of this service being free of charge, it enable me to plug any resources/budget I required into my production, including any fees on film days, editing software costs and entry fee to some locations such as the car parks.

This limited the times that I could access my blog/work to review my research and planning and previous product drafts which had a minor impact on my productivity on the project at times.  
• In addition to this, another drawback I had with using Blogger was that I found the actual application itself is overly basic for my needs. The elements I could include in my blog posts appeared very simple and dull at times, limiting by ability to add creativity and consistent linking themes across both my portfolio work and the blog itself. Despite this being a minimal issue, I did find it did place myself at a slight disadvantage in the professionalism and visual aesthetic that my blog posts of my important drafts/reports/product I had uploaded.

This aesthetic helped me put my report information and analysis into ‘bite-sized’ chunks of key information I had found out during the research and planning stage, particularly when I was analysing the graphs from my questionnaire results. These dynamic motions incorporated into my presentations during the project I believe helped add and demonstrate personal creativity and the ability to show understanding/development. 

• Likewise, another benefit I had from utilizing Prezi during my advanced portfolio was that as a result of the program being web-based, it gave me the ability to embed my presentations directly into my blog posts via internal links/plugins. I used this embedding feature particularly when I was presenting my final drafts and long sections of research tasks to help my readers follow the information easily and directly – resulting in an effective platform for presenting my work from all aspects.

With being used to solely using Microsoft PowerPoint in the past, I found to begin with the jump to using Prezi required time to learn the core mechanics, and thus slowed down the productivity of my blog related presentations/tasks.

• Another disadvantage I incurred using Prezi was that as a result of the program being web based, at times I was not able to add and create work for my project as I did not have access to the internet – thus interrupting my work flow. The compromise of this is however, that I am able to freely share my presentations that include detailed analysis/reports with my peers, moderators and teachers with simply sending these individuals the access URL link.

This enabled me to discuss dates, times, locations and ideas with my film day groups to ensure there was agreed plans and pre-determined goals of these days. Mobile phones were an essential technology to the efficiency and healthy communications/relationship maintained during the activities carried out for this project.

• Additionally, another advantage I found using mobile phone technologies during the key phases of my project was that it due to the modern capabilities and technologies embedded into smartphones, it meant on planning days for my film schedule I was able to take photos using the camera on my iPhone to gather a collection of potential film locations/settings. As my music video shows, the majority of the visited locations were urban (such as the car park & side streets). As a result of these images now on my phone, I was able to forward these images to my involved peers and discuss these locations in advance, saving time, resources and unexpected delays within the project.

• During the film days I connected a Bluetooth speaker to my mobile phone to enable my artist and myself to link up the lip syncing with the timing of the music – in real time. A problem I incurred with this was that the Bluetooth technology in mobile phones can be unreliable, resulting in some unexpected/infrequent cut outs of music – resulting in having to restart filming verses where my artist was left without audio to follow, impacting on the quality of the clips. This cost myself quality film content, time and general inefficiencies to the film days.

This capabilities of these types of cameras, provided me with high quality footage to incorporate into my music video and related products – thus demonstrating a professional, clean cut aesthetic across the project (without hindering my camera capabilities e.g. shot types/angles/focal points).

One benefit I had to using this technology was the portability of the device, enabling me to complete portfolio tasks at home, at school and on the go when appropriate – giving me a less restrictive work flow, completing tasks within the time constraints much more efficiently. 

• Another advantage of using this laptop in particular was that it includes very powerful and high performance components for its concept as a device. This enabled me during the planning and construction stages to use intensive applications such as Adobe Premiere Pro and Photoshop to edit my videos and photos smoothly, with ease. One of the main drawbacks I found of using this technology was that I was constrained to the battery life as it is a laptop – this of which meant in some cases I was unable to access research, planning, portfolio and construction documents due to a ‘dead’ laptop. One benefit there was to using Photoshop during my project, particularly within the planning and construction phases was that due to the industry standard elements the software includes, I was able to create high quality, professional looking posters, images and promotional pieces due to the ability to use advanced concepts such as layering, adding depth and demonstrate the intended genre within the aesthetic effectively. 

• Furthermore, another advantage I had using Photoshop I found was that I was able to manipulate and add the purple colour theme consistently across my 3 products. Using the colour palette within Photoshop, I used the exact same colour code for any purple applied to my productions - if you look closely at the music video, poster and digipak the shade of purple/pinks are almost the same - giving me the ability to show precise consistency during my construction stages. This tool to use in Photoshop however was taught and learn about during my research and planning stages where I watched a YouTube tutorial in how to colour match in the software in a professional manor.

• First of all, one disadvantage I had to using Photoshop was that due to the high level of customisation, manual preferences and essentially complex interface to use - I found at times it was difficult particularly when I first began to get to grips with using the software effectively. With so many tools and methods of approaching manipulation of my photos, my technical skills to begin with disadvantaged my ability to create the best products I planned to.
