India, my motherland, my home, is a paradox. Full of contrasts that coexist with old and new traditions, spiritual diversity and political ideologies. Democracy is filled with voices, sometimes clashing, sometimes harmonizing, all under one Constitution that keeps evolving with time. For me, India is not just a nation but a puzzle which keeps evolving, it is complex, imperfect, but always a place that I will call home.

When i think of India i see the colour "Brown" the woodwork, the food, the temples, the citizens all enveloped in the ever so soothing colour brown. From there i go on to imagine the rural life of india, with the vast agricultural lands and the unpaved roads going in the middle of rural houses. With these thoughts in mind i am then also amazed by the immense development of India, the military powerhouse that it is today.

My idea of India revolves around it's diversity in several aspects. Religion, language,geography, culture - it's a country with beautiful differences, which unfortunately are often the cause of conflict on several levels. Be it the way we move away from a muslim seated next to us, to the massacres done in the name of god, a majority of Indians have had discriminatory thoughts, and often even experienced discrimination at some point in their lives. Overcoming this through unity and changes in perception, can truly make the country glorious again.

India, popularly known as Bharat, with democracy as its heart, is a country of utmost pride and possession. It is a woven tapestry of traditions, political versatility, religious beliefs, and practices. In my country, the richest of the rich and poorest of the poor kneel in front of the almighty, without questioning why??

My country is a homeland to not just worshippers, but also shows remarkable signs of being a religiously diverse and inclusive nation. Furthermore, having a structurally stratified constitution where every citizen is equal. It is not just a country but a beautifully drawn piece of art with attention to detail and a meaningful background.

It is a nation of not just humans but multifarious flora and fauna. My home is not only home to me but the birds who visit us from the west every year, and to the stray dogs I feed every day. And to the trees I sit beneath for hours of my days, and I am so proud of calling myself an Indian. Hence, I've realized my country is not just mine, it's yours, and everybody's, who call it home.

A misunderstood beauty

I think we know that India is a diverse country with an endless amount of rich culture, tradition, language, religion, practices to offer. Like every other country, it obviously has its flaws and imperfections, I think more recently, on social media platforms such as Instagram and Youtube, posts go viral showcasing specifically the negative aspects, which again every country has. Assumptions and opinions are formed based on a singular post and it pains me to know that only a thin wall of curiosity, research and knowledge is blocking others from seeing the magic and beauty of India. Hence, a misunderstood beauty comes to mind when i think of India.

The first thing that comes to my mind when I think about India is freedom. For me India is a country full of free colors. Freedom of voting is one of the right that we have as an Indian , freedom to practice our religions and beliefs and where we are free to learn about our culture. The right to raise our voices against something we feel is wrong. All these rights that we have as a citizen of India point to only one thing when i think of India, Freedom.

India isn't just a country, it's full of life and various unheard stories. The concept of "jugaad" resonates with me the most as people find small hacks and are always ready to adapt. Though India has various diverse cultures , people make sure they are united as we know beneath all uniforms,a single body breathes. It was because of partition, colonization and migration India is what is today.

However on the flip side India also reminds me of people lacking severely in civic sense. If they are so respectful when they remove shoes while entering a temple the same mindset of responsibility should continue outside the temple and borders as well.

India to me is something that's goes beyond cultures ,religion and languages. India doesn't need a definition or meaning as it is something that will keep on evolving.

To many, India is home, to others it may be a tourist place and many might see it as a country with diversity. In my opinion India is like a garden full of different kinds of flowers where each kind of flower represents each state. Just like the variety of flowers, each state has different colours, flavours, appearance and beauty. Sometimes, I wonder if I can become a butterfly who gets to admire the beauty of these flowers one by one

For me... India is not just a word, it's a feeling. Feeling of mother's love, a home, the sweet scent (after the rain), the noisy streets and unity in diversity. It's a tear in my eyes, when I hear those words in national anthem or vande matram.

India is a heartbeat dressed in soil and souls. It reminds me of different cultures,the street food, the music, the dance and the styles. No matter where I go it's voice calls me and that's how I figure out my identity and that is: I am Indian!

when i think of India what comes to my mind is roots like a huge banyan tree with lots of branches of culture, history, heritage, and what not. On hearing India i don't see todays India but the one we hear about from our Dadi's and Nani's in stories. The gurukul, sages, festivals, colours, mythologies, full of surprises and theories to unfold. For me India is like a paradox.. its a banyan tree with deep roots within yet new branches growing all around it.

The word India brings a sense of belonging and pride; it's more about the emotional sentiment. I recall the epic history which we had and the surrounding mystical wonders that still leave all of us marvelling! It's a country which is still developing and has made a tremendous leap from what it was in 1947.

Whenever the name comes India the first thing that trigger my mind is,

The land of diverse culture ,

A place for showcasing the the art of artisans,

A place which is covered with varities of textiles,

A hub known for the spices with varities of food,

A solemn place where exist many religious beliefs,

The closely connected people,

And the last is the flying Tricolour which stands as our identity as an Indian .
