Soon, her Uncle comes up behind her and tells her to stop immediately. He asks her what she is doing playing in such filth. This can be connected to the theme of money. Chihn is very money conscience and cares a great deal about how other people view him and his family. She accuses her roommates of stealng it because she vividly remembers placing the sewing machine in the spot it is no longer in. She does not stop to think about other possibilities, just jumps to the conclusion that one of them must be responsible. She and all the other roommates start to search for the sewing machine.
