Pamela s. turner creates a critical tone by creating a chatty style and a literal diction. the chatty style created helps the reader feel more connected to what Pamela is writing. this make the reader feel welcomed and it better guides the reader to have the same the criticism she expresses about the events and people in the book. second the literal diction created helps create a critical tone by getting to the point and telling the reader exactly what happened. in samurai rising instead of using figurative language to persuade the reader to feel or believe a specific thing. Pamela creates a literal diction to be specific so the reader gets all the information but the chatty style helps persuades the reader to share the same criticisms she gives. the chatty style and literal diction created in samurai rising creates a critical tone.

The book follows the life of Minamoto Yoshitsune. When he was a baby his father who was a great samurai was killed during a rebellion by his rival samurai. this rival samurai took over the empire and gained lots of power. this family decided to send Yoshitsune to become a monk so he would not know how to fight. When he was 15 he ran away become a samurai and avenge his father. This was very hard for him because his family was discriminated against and he was too old to start training to become a samurai. Despite all of this he became a great samurai and eventually avenged his father by bringing an end to their rivals family. his rise of power did not last long sadly because his half brother was jealous and convinced the emperor to make him a outlaw. After being in exile even though he was loved by the people, he was finally found and killed. his story was told down by generations and he was seen as the hero while the others , such as the rival family and his half brother went from the hero to the villain.

The theme of samurai rising is relevant to the modern world. the biggest example of the theme you either die a hero or become the villain in the public's eyes is Martian Luther king Jr. during his life he fought for the rights of African american people. the public loved him and fought beside him with the exception of some people mainly the People of power. Martian Luther King Jr was then killed by the people who were against him. although some people were happy for his death many were sad. now one may think that Martian Luther King Jr was the one who lost because he died but its the opposite. Martian Luther King Jr died a hero he is remember a hero and his life is still celebrated to this day but the man who killed him is forgotten. The man who killed him thought he was the hero but in reality he helped make Martian Luther King Jr become even more powerful. this is similar to Yoshitsunes life in samurai rising. when Yoshitsune was little he was discriminated against but despite this he still gained power and defeated his rivals. but when this happened the other people of power became jealous and wanted to end his life but the public loved him, he saved them from the previous oppressive leaders. this helped him fight back but in the end he was killed. the ones who killed him are not labeled the heroes of the story, Yoshitsune is the hero. he may have lost everything he had even his life but his life was celebrated thought history in his culture and his is still remembered to this day as the powerful samurai who was the hero. these two stores are similar because both characters came from being discriminated to a powerful leader. sadly both characters died in there stories but they both died a hero and are still remembered and celebrated to this day but there rivals are looked down upon and forgotten. this brings us back to the theme of people of power either die a hero or become the villain in the public's eyes. both became powerful and died a hero to the public.

Chatty Style

Pamela create chatty style to create a critical tone. a chatty style is a style that is friendly and informal. one example of Pamela using a chatty style in Samurai rising is when she wrights “maybe it's a blessing that the mirrors of the time were made of polished metal and were not very reflective.” this is said after the author describes Yoshitsunes appearance. she is just making fun of his appearance and it makes the reader feel like they are invited to the text. this also creates a critical tone because she is criticizing his appearance. second one more example of Pamela creating a chatty style to create a critical tone is when she wrights "Of course, messengers took weeks to go back and forth between Kamakura and Hiraizumi, and Hidehira was a master at using the time lag to his advantage." this is said after talking about two kings talking to each other. this creates a chatty style by again making the reader feel welcomed to the text. the style makes the text feel like a conversation. These examples make the paper flow more naturally and help guide the reader to think what the author wants them to think without making the reader feel overwhelmed or not welcomed.

Pamela creates a literal diction to create a critical tone. a literal diction is a diction that tells the reader exactly what is going on. the first example of Pamela creating a literal diction is when she wrights " Tabanobus dressed in Yoshitsunes fine armor and silver helmet, Youshitsune put on Tabanobus plainer set." in this example Pamela did not use and figurative language she just got to the point and described the armor. this helps create a critical tone by getting to the point. one more example of Pamela creating a literal diction to create a critical tone is when she wrights "word of Yoshitsunes arrival had spread quickly across Shikoku". in stead of comparing the spread of new to a wildfire or some other figurative language Pamela just gets to the point and describes the events. this again helps create a critical tone by getting to the point and telling the reader exactly what is happening.

the human rights brought up in this book are reduced inequality, sustainable city's and communities and peace and justice. reduced inequality's are brought up when Yoshitsune was sent away to become a monk to prevent him from learning to fight. he is directly discriminated against because of his family. second the human right of sustainable city's and communities is brought up after all the wars and battle that caused the city's to have to rebuild, the city's were not sustainable because of the wars. finally the human right of peace and justice is broken thought the book. Yoshitsune's is not brought the justice he deserves because he was killed and the human right of peace in broken thought the book. the family's that lived in the city's feared being killed and Yoshitisune was not allowed to live a peaceful live because someone was always trying to kill him.
