In maths, we receive Sparx Homework every week. I am now in set 1 maths. So far, we have learned Unit 6-10 including Number, Algebra, Graphs, Shape and Space and Sets. By the end of term 1. My test scores were paper 1: 51/61 paper 2: 30/50. I have achieved a grade of 6- and I think can improve my grade to a 7+ which is my anticipiated grade, by focusing on my weaker topics more often, which should even support me to get a better score in my mock in January.

English

In English, we have been working on various assignments and tasks this term. We focused on An Inspector Calls for our coursework, analyzing its themes and characters. We also explored anthologies, which helped me improve my understanding of poetry and literary techniques. I'm looking forward to the summative test next week, where I hope to apply everything I’ve learned. I received a 5- on my end-of-year grade. I believe I can achieve a 6- next term by focusing on minimizing errors, participating more actively in class discussions, and continuing to read a variety of texts to improve my vocabulary and comprehension.

Science

In Science, we’ve covered topics across Chemistry, Biology, and Physics this term. In Chemistry, we learned about structure and bonding, as well as chemical calculations. In Biology, we studied communicable and non-communicable diseases, and in Physics, we focused on circuits and electricity. My test scores were: Chemistry 28/58, Biology 20/54, and Physics 35/50. My end-of-term grades were: Biology 4, Chemistry 5, and Physics 4. I aim to achieve an overall grade of 5+ next term by improving my understanding of key concepts, practicing more problem-solving, and reviewing past material regularly.

Business

In Business, we receive weekly homework where we take notes on various topics to reinforce our learning. This term, we covered several key areas, including the sectors of the economy, business growth, business failure, and cash flow. I scored 19/30 in the test, and my end-of-term grade was a C+. To improve next term, I plan to focus more on understanding the core concepts, reviewing my notes regularly, and practicing past papers to strengthen my exam technique. By doing so, I highly beleive that I am capable of raising my grade to a B+ and achieve a higher level of understanding in Business.

Economics

In Economics, we have finished Unit 1.1 on Market Systems, where we learned key concepts like market equilibrium, price elasticity of demand , income elasticity of demand, and economic assumptions. We’ve now moved on to Section B, Business Economics, where we’re exploring topics related to firms and market structures. I scored 25/30 on the test, and my end-of-term grade was a 4. To improve next term, I plan to continue reviewing key concepts regularly, work on applying theory to real-world examples, and focus on developing my analytical skills to boost my performance and grade.

In Arabic, we’ve learned about festivals and global events this term. I got a grade of 4 and believe I can achieve a 5 next term by practicing speaking and writing more, expanding my vocabulary, and reviewing grammar.

Languages - Spanish

In Spanish, we’ve been learning about the topic "Mi vida en el insti" (My life at school), where we focused on vocabulary related to school life and daily routines. We are now studying "Mi gente" (My people), where we discuss family, friends, and relationships. I’m looking forward to the writing test this Friday on "Mis Applicaciones" (My applications), where I’ll be applying what I’ve learned about talking about future plans. I received a grade of 3-, but I believe I can achieve a 4+ next term by practicing more writing, expanding my vocabulary, and reviewing key grammar points regularly.

Business

I enjoy studying Business in Upper School because it helps me understand how real businesses operate. One challenge has been grasping some of the more complex concepts, but I’ve been improving by reviewing my notes and asking questions. I feel I’ve made the most progress in Business because I can relate the theory to real-life examples. However, I find the analysis of business strategies the most challenging, so I plan to focus on understanding them better. Moving forward, I need to focus on improving my understanding of business strategies for my Year 10 assessments.

Economics

I enjoy studying Economics because it helps me understand how economies work and the factors influencing market systems. One challenge has been understanding some of the economic models, but I’ve been overcoming this by using extra resources and discussing any confusion with my teacher. I feel I’ve made the most progress in Economics because I can easily apply theories like supply and demand to real-world situations. However, I find some of the economic calculations the most challenging, so I plan to practice them more. Moving forward, I need to focus on improving my understanding of economic calculations for my Year 10 assessments.

Guitar

I am playing guitar twice a week and have learned to play multiple songs. I really enjoy it and find it a great way to relax.

I am also playing football outside of school for an academy in the yfl leauge u17. I am highly passionate about football and hope to acheive a scholarship within the coming years.
