Who: The Mexican American War was an armed conflict between the United States of America and the United Mexican State.
Where: The Mexican American War took place in Mexico and Texas.
What: Americans were reaching out beyond their borders to declare independence from Mexico.
When: This conflict between the U.S. of America and the United Mexican State was from 1846 to 1848. In June 1846 a group of American settlers seized the town of Sonoma. On February 2, 1848, the U.S. and Mexico signed the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo.
How did it affect the U.S./world?
The Mexican American War affected the U.S. because it was the first nation's foreign war fought almost entirely of foreign territory. It also affected the U.S. because Mexican soldiers killed 11 U.S. soldiers. With that happening Congress approved war between them. The Mexican troops quickly gave way so this left the U.S. forces in control of California.
