Summary : In the book Into The Wild, a young guy chooses to travel and is brave (pg 5) enough to do it on his own. He told the people he was with that he was unprepared (pg 4) for the trip when they were having a conversation. Even though he was not prepared he was still determined (pg 4) to keep going. Although ,he was not that prepared with his bag ,he was smart (pg 5) enough to at least carry a map with him. The guy Gallien offered to drive him to Anchorage and he rejected (pg 6) the offer. He was asked if he had a license and he replied with a response that shows he breaches (pg 6) rules.

Reflection: I honestly think Chris is wild for leaving. The fact that he traveled far , and disappeared without barely anything shows how brave and wild he is going to make the story.
Hashtags : #livelife #takerisks #leavingforgood

The Stampede Trail was very suspicious (pg 10). It was Chris was found. one of the guys Thompson had the courage (pg 11) to headlong into the flood. He made it to the far bank without any incident (pg 11).When the men found a guy and girl from Anchorage they started to panic (pg 12). Once they found the bodies the autopsy was done at a laboratory. They said since Chris didn't have any body damage or even an identity he was basically unknown (pg 14).
Reflection: It seems to keep getting more intense . I wouldn't think his death would be introduced to us in the second chapter. It is honestly weird how he didn't have any marks or body damage in that sort of thing.

It was found that he was trying to find happiness (pg 15) in danger and movement for himself . Chris had left many memories (pg 16) people lived off of him by telling them. They described him as a hard worker (pg 18). He did physical labor, rotten grain ,and even getting dead rats out from the bottom of holes. It was discovered (pg 16) that his real name was Chris and not Alex because of his tax form. Chris's parents drove down to Atlanta where he was attending school just to find out he disappeared (pg 18) for a better life.

Reflection: I think Chris should have let his parents know he wanted to leave. But at the same time it's like if he didn't have a good relationship with them since he left without saying anything and even changing his name just so they wont find him. The fact that he was still a good guy even if he moved shows a lot from him.

They got Chris's car and they took it . When Chris was writing in his journal about his journey (pg 28) he was writing in third person. Since Chris was always determined while traveling on his own. He was close to having a heat stroke (pg 28). Chris obviously did not have money so he lived off edible plants (pg 30).

Reflection: A lot happened in this chapter. I honestly still don't hate Chris. I'm just a bit confused why he would want to leave his family. If he is going to struggle either having a heat stroke or no money.

When Chris arrived to Bullhead City he decided he live in an abandon bus for a new beginning (pg 38). Chris worked at a McDonald's and rode a bike to work everyday even though he hated capitalism (pg 40). Whenever a problem comes up for Chris instead of dealing with it he runs away(pg 41) from it . He does not like when someone tries to get to know him or when someone puts him in a awkward (pg 41) position. Since Burres was acting Chris about his past he felt uncomfortable(pg 46) and decided to move to Salton City .

Reflection: Chris seems like such a hard worker that does not want to depend on anyone for anything. But sometimes he has to let people care for him. He probably is scared to open up and get hurt .You cant hurt someone if you don't let them.

Afterwards Chris's mission (pg 53) was to make it to Alaska. When Chris mentioned to Franz that he wanted to leave to Alaska,Franz offered a ride hallway. It was unusual (pg 54)that Chris accepted the favor since he is so independent. We eventually found out that Chris runs away from people because he hates human intimacy (pg 55). In the end of the chapter Chris sent out a letter to Franz convincing (pg 58) him to move to Alaska and basically leave his whole life behind for an new start .
Reflection: It's sad to realize Chris pushes people away. He seems to be scared to get hurt. The fact that he is trying to convince Franz to move to Alaska seems that Chris is trying to get to personal.

In this chapter we got to know Chris a little bit more. He had some morals (pg 63 in mind. Although Chris was living place to place he managed to stay organized (pg 63). We found out that Chris saved himself from having sex (pg 65) because he wanted to stay focused and committed on his journey. It was never based on a religion or anything but his personal choice (pg 66) . If Chris were to have sex it'd probably leave him to a relationship or kid. An entanglement (pg 66) was not a good idea for Chris. He always wanted to be free.
Reflection: In this Chapter I wouldn't expect them to even talk about his sex life. It is interesting on how he is very committed to his journey and doesn't want nothing coming into his way.

In this chapter, Chris which goes by Alex was found dead in Alaska. At first it was an unknown death because he had no identity pg(98). When he was found , in his diary was written that he was a field biologist but obviously Chris chose the wildlife (pg 99). When pictures of Chris where found at the job site they knew it was ¨Alex¨ who had passed (pg 99). A guy Chris knew which was West berg had lost contact from Chris ever since the post card from fair banks (pg 100). When West berg overheard the radio talking about a death in Alaska he immediately knew it was ¨Alex¨(pg 100). The detectives found it hard to believe that people who where calling about the death knew Alex because he had no identity on him (pg 101). West berg had Alex's social security because he worked with him and had files.Sam, a girl who knew Alex for a while gathered information from the police station and was in shock .

Reflection: Although Chris knew a bit of people it shocks me how they were still able to assume it was him. I mean he did let people know he was going to Alaska . What made it harder about his death is that he had no identity . No one really knew who he was without his real name or last name . I wonder how they are going to get a hold of his parents and how they are going to react.

Chris felt that he was alone in the world so that is why he chose to live his life alone to not depend on anyone (pg 103). Growing up Chris spent a lot of time with his dad bonding (pg 103). Chris was very successful in school, sports, and jobs (pg 105). Although , Chris enjoyed his own company because he never liked people telling him what to do (pg 107). He was fearless when it came to taking risks or trying something new. Ever since he was younger he enjoyed hobbies that had to do with the wild (pg 108). When he graduated high school he had a graduation party and that night he was sentimental with his father (pg 118) . Chris ended up helping his parents in their company. He managed to figure out a technique to help the company better but was clingy on teaching his technique. (pg 120).When his friend tried catching up with Chris he was very simple and turned into an introvert (pg 121). Chris was soon enough getting frustrated with college because he was eager to leave and travel (pg 124). Once Chris vanished from college and didn't let him family know , they soon started to wonder simple things and worried.

Reflection: Honestly Chris seemed to be annoyed with everything around him having a routine.

In this chapter, Krakauer went out to stikine ice cap just like Chris . He borrowed a tent from a shelter (pg 147). While going on this adventure,he thought about his past a lot. His parents prepared him for a career ever since he was in kindergarten (pg 147). Chris's and Krakauers father were both alike because they were both ambitious (pg 147). As much as Krakauer's father wanted him to go to Harvard and excel in a career, did the opposite and failed him just like Chris failed his family (pg 148). When Krakauer reached thumb he told a freeman and was not believed. Only because when Chris climbed it he passed and Krakuer was able to leave alive (pg 156).

Reflection: Krakauer and Chris had their similarties with their fathers. Both their fathers wanted them to be successful and get a career but they just did not desire that life. Krakauer and Chris were both complicated people with their own personalities.

In this chapter, we learned about Chris's journey hunting. At one point Chris hitchhiked to get to his destination, the people he met talked about him as a sharp, courteous young man (pg 159). Chris had met a guy and the guy was not going to take him all the way to his destination but since he ended up liking Chris so much he changed his mind (pg 160). Chris found a gun and planned to resell it to buy a rifle for hunting (pg 161). When he first started hunting he wasn't so good at it , he'd always miss the animals when shooting (pg 164). In the journal he had he wrote the animals he wanted to accomplish hunting, this way he was able to have food and experience hunting (pg 165).

Reflection: From this chapter it seemed that Chris did not know a thing about hunting. He seemed to always build a bond with people he didn't like but keeping it simple. Hunting seemed like a goal of his for surviving and getting to know the wild.

In this chapter, Krakauer wanted to discover where Chris died ,why and how (pg 173). The people that met Chris claimed that he was looking for more than freedom or adventure (pg 174).The difference from Chris and Krakauer when traveling, was that Chris did not have a map and Krakauer did (pg174). In a trail krakauer found a bunch of bones from animals that Chris hunted (pg 177).Samuel and Thompson said that Chris was not made for surviving in the back-country (pg178).Overall Krakauer thought that Chris was not prepared for the life he chose.

Reflection: This whole time reading this book I beleived and was convinced that Chris was prepared. After reading this chapter , it changed my vision. Chris was not prepared to be alone, survive alone,or even travel by himself. He needed someone or at least depended on someone for a favor.

In this chapter,we learned how Chris died. Krakauer assumed that Chris's time gone from college changed him pg (189). Chris wrote in his journal informing that he got weak because of pot seeds. Chris was eating seeds because it was the only way he thought he can survive pg (191).The seeds were wild. Krakauer supposed that the seeds Chris was eating had mold and were dangerous (pg 192). Chris was still trying to hunt and cook food (pg 193). At the end Chris died from starvation (195).

Reflection: Overall,I feel like Chris wanted to live his life the way he wanted to. No rules, people telling him what to do,and probably alone. But what I do think he did was take things in life for granted. Chris is not a bad guy but he could've made better choices in his life.

Summary : In this chapter, after Chris's death his parents visited his last stay. They got to see the bus he was living in . His parents also went through the things he left behind . I was hard for Chris parents to approach where Chris had pain because of the hurt and grief they were going through. Later on they had courage to visit the place . All the memories they had where Chris ran through their mind , they thought that Chris was appealed to Alaska.

Analysis: At the end, I'm glad Chris's parents thought that is was beautiful. Even though Chris decided to live his life in the wild they tried to understand his point of view. it was too late for them to be mad because nothing would ever bring Chris back so they had no choice but to admire what he went though. Although Chris was not the best survivor , he was still brave enough.

In this chapter, Krakauer spent 23 years on Chris's death (3). During Krakauer's investigation he assumed three possible way Chris could have died. Chris had given info in his journal about what seeds he ate (4). Krakauer was convinced that the seed of the Eskimo potato plant were the reason (5). Later on Krakauer decided to test the seeds to check what was the toxin and reason (6). It turned out that after a season of the weather , the seeds cannot be eaten (10).

Reflection: To begin with, it was silly for Krakauer to be interested in a random guy's death. He spent his time and money into Chris's death. I hope Chris feels like he at least interested someone into his death.
#staysafe #notallplantsaregood #toxic

Growing up I had many desires ,hopes, and dreams. Since I was little I was super indecisive on what I wanted . I would change my future plans all the time. My parents always told me they wanted me to live life ,travel the world, and have a successful career. Living in Orange County showed me a little bit of everything . It showed me the struggles and great reasons to be here. But something in Orange County is just different to be me . It's like theirs two worlds you can live here. It's a place where you see the ghetto but you also see the good in jobs, bushiness, and places. It always attracted me to wanting to be out and at the same time being successful making me feel like its the place I need to be at .

To start off I don't ever think I will be able to move out of Orange County . I want to pursue my medical career as a medical assistant . I'm choosing this career because I want to be able to help people that are struggling in health ,but also treat the healthy . Even though I will have this career , I have so many places in mind already that I would love to travel to. My real goal in life is to be independent ,have my career, own car,and place either it being an apartment, condo ,or house. Making sure I am the one doing everything for myself would make me feel like I am in a good place in life . Overall my goal is to become a medical assistant, live life, experience new things, and remember where I came from.
#livewithnoconcern #livintothefullest #714livin

Chris McCandless reflection

My thoughts on Chris are a bit all over the place . It was a thin line between love and hate with him. Sometimes he did the wisest decisions and sometimes not the best decisions. To start off I was extremely upset when he decided to abandon his family and sister. It made me think of him as an ungrateful person after everything his parents did for him. But at one point I tried to understand his decision when he abandoned his car and traveled on foot. This action made me believe that this is what he really wanted since he was pursuing it. He was very smart when it came to changing his name to Alex. That way no one can find him or get to where he's at . He completely wanted to shut his family and people he knew out. When Chris got his job at McDonald's, I was pretty surprised and expecting him to maybe give up traveling and go back to his family. But no, I was wrong . Instead he quit because he was tired of "plastic people" and didn't like when people told him what to do. I feel like Chris was a bit weak emotionally and did not like getting attached to people. Overall, Chris was brave when it came to moving forward on something but not when it came to emotions. I don't hate Chris because everyone makes their own decisions, life, and make mistakes sometimes but he could have done better. Chris could at least reached out to his family once in a while, let Ron adopt him, and let people get to know him.
