매년 어스아워에 참여할 때 마다, 단순 소등만 하는게 아닌 에너지 그 자체의 절약을 우선으로 해 잠시동안 집의 많은 에너지를 사용하지 않는단 모토로 참여하고 있다. 전기와 더불어 물 등을 절약하는 것도 큰 도움이 되는걸 알기 때문이다.
지금 환경 문제는 더이상 북극곰만이, 또 툰드라 같은 먼 곳만이 피해받는 그런 문제가 아니다. 이미 우리는 시리아 내전, 2018년 가뭄부터 최근에 있었던 전세계적인 폭우와 태풍, 대규모 산불 등을 수차례 겪었지만 사람들은 그것의 원인을 잘 파악하지 않으려 한다.
모든 문제의 시작은 관심이고, 그것이 행동이 된다. 학교에서 다같이 했던 어스아워인만큼 나를 비롯한 학생들이 이런 점을 깨달았으면 좋겠고, 전세계의 많은 어스아워 참여자들도 어스아워를 왜 하는지에 대해 잘 생각하고 참여하면 좋겠다.
앞으로도 지금처럼 꾸준히 참석하고, 관심을 갖고 행동하는 삶을 살고싶다.
