Our solar system has  eight planets and their moons in orbit around the sun, together with smaller bodies in the form of asteroids, meteoroids, and comets.
Sun:
the luminous celestial body around which the earth and other planets revolve, from which they receive heat and light.
The sun is also a star.
Moon:
the earth's natural satellite that shines by the sun's reflected light, revolves about the earth from west to east in about 29¹/₂ days with reference to the sun.
The earth has one moon, while other planets have many.   
Meteor:
a small body of matter from outer space that enters the earth's atmosphere, becoming incandescent as a result of friction and appearing as a streak of light.
Asteroid:
any of the small rocky celestial bodies found especially between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter
Asteroid Belt:
the region of interplanetary space between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter in which most asteroids are found
Earth:
The third planet from the sun. The planet that we live on.
