My why is to inspire students to become life long learners. I want my students to love exploring and develop critical thinking skills and not fear failure. I would like to create a learning environment where students explore, are curious, creative and feel that they belong. Where each of my students is valued and celebrated every step of they way. Where I find unique contributions each one brings to our community. Everyone is a leader and has a role in different strengths. 

Who are you as an anti-racist educator? As an anti-racist educator I am committed to challenging and dismantling systemic oppression within education and society. I will create a classroom that embraces diversity, challenges bias and uses culturally relevant teaching practices. I am dedicated to listening, learning and unlearning to advocate for all my students especially those that come from marginalized communities.   

What is your stance toward student learning? Student learning should be student centered, meaningful and engaging. I would like to create a learning experience that is relatable to students and  allows them to connect with real world issues. This helps students have more ownership over their learning. 

My beliefs are that when learners actively construct knowledge and meaning through their experiences, interactions, and reflections. Socio-cultural theory emphasizes the role of culture and social interactions in shaping learning and development.
