This is an example of situational Irony because Ms. Jackson is trying to save her son vinny from the electrical outlet because Ms.Jackson had a flashback when she was young she had a bad shock from the electrical outlet when she was young and she doesn’t want the same thing to happen to her son Vinny. In the text it states, “Upon observing this, Ms. Jackson had a flashback of sticking her finger in an electrical outlet and getting a bad shock when she was a child. Ms. Jackson immediately purchased electrical outlet covers to protect her son.” This shows that Ms.Jackson was protecting her son from the electrical outlet but it her son still was in danger because he was choking on the electrical outlets. The thing like the electrical outlet was supposed to protect the child not kill the child.

The character is being characterized through the use of Situation Irony. The reason why is Ms. Jackson is a caring, overprotective mother, but she ends up getting something that suppose to protect, but does the opposite. For example, it states, "Ms. Jackson immediately purchased electrical outlet covers to protect her son. The next afternoon she heard her son choking and ran over to him. He was choking on one of the electrical outlet plug covers she purchased." This is Situational Irony because outlet covers are suppose to help you not get shocked or chocked, but the situation backfires and Vinny ends up getting chocked by what was suppose to protect him.

The Character in the corresponding sample is being characterized as very overprotective and caring for her son, she loves him dearly and wants the best for him, this is clearly shown when the author writes “Ms. Jackson immediately purchased electrical outlet covers to protect her son.” (Line 3) This demonstrates her feelings for her child and her want and need to protect him, but as a result of her actions we get a follow up sentence explaining “The next afternoon she heard her son choking and ran over to him. He was choking on one of the electrical outlet plug covers she purchased.” (lines 3-4) This is ironic as Mr. Jackson wanted her son to be safe but is the reason her son started to choke.

The character is characterized as a overprotective mother who didn't think before buying. I was able to characterize Ms. Jackson with situational irony. Ms. Jackson cares for her son a tremendous amount and because of this she didn't think of the outcomes of her action. She had caused her son to choke of an item she had bought to protect him. She brought an outlet protecter without think that her son could get hurt by choking on it. You would expect a outlet protector to keep you safe because the purpose of it was to protect you fro unwanted electrocution. This is ironic because the very thing Ms. Jackson had trusted to keep her son safe, ended up hurting him.

She remembered that when she was a child she used to stick her fingers through the electrical outlets, and therefore she did not want the same thing to happen to her son. But she did not think before acting, or before buying she did not notice that it could lead to other consequences. She tried to protect her son from danger, but instead put him in danger because the electrical outlets almost killed her son.

The character is being characterized through the use of Situation Irony. The reason why is Ms. Jackson is a loving mom. She may be an overprotective mother,, but she ends up getting something that suppose to protect, but does the opposite. For example, it states, "Ms. Jackson immediately purchased electrical outlet covers to protect her son. The next afternoon she heard her son choking and ran over to him. He was choking on one of the electrical outlet plug covers she purchased." This is Situational Irony because outlet covers are supposed to help you not get shocked or choking. The mother purchased something to save her son from pain, but the item that is supposed to save him from pain almost kills the 2 year old boy,

The character is characterized through the use of situational irony because Ms. Jackson cared deeply and tried to protect her son, Vinny from any danger whilst he was still little. She remembered the fact that she stuck her finger into a electrical outlet and received a horrible electrical shock from it. Worried it might happen to her kid as well she purchased outlet covers. The irony comes in the next morning when she hears Vinny choking on the outlet covers she bought. It says " The next afternoon she heard her son choking and ran over to him. He was choking on one of the electrical outlet plug covers she purchased." This is a example of irony because while trying to protect her child a new danger appeared when she bought outlet covers to protect her child. These covers that were meant to protect Vinny actually caused a new danger to him.

She had a memory of her getting hurt as a child and did what she could to protect her son from everything she could. For example the texts states "Ms. Jackson immediately purchased electrical outlet covers to protect her son. The next afternoon she heard her son choking and ran over to him. He was choking on one of the electrical outlet plug covers she purchased." Based on this it illustrates irony because no one not even Ms.Jackson would expect her son to chock on what she bought to protect him, rather he would've gotten hurt by the wires as she image she did as a child. It is showing the complete opposite of what we hoped wouldn't happen resulting in the irony of the situation.

The character Ms. Jackson is characterized through the use of Situational Irony because she is known as a person who did everything to protect her baby son and to keep him safe. However, when she had a memory of her getting hurt from electric plugs, she bought plug covers thinking that her son will continue to stay safe. But after she had done so, the next day her son was chocking on one of the plug covers, they are supposed to help you not get shocked but the situation was unexpected by the mother when she saw her son choking instead. For example, it stated that "Upon observing this, Ms. Jackson had a flashback of sticking her finger in an electrical outlet and getting a bad shock when she was a child. Ms. Jackson immediately purchased electrical outlet covers to protect her son. The next afternoon she heard her son choking and ran over to him. He was choking on one of the electrical outlet plug covers she purchased." This proves that Situational Irony is shown through Ms. Jackson expecting her son to be protected from electricity through the covers, but instead he started choking. This was the opposite of his mother's expectations which is ironic because she thought it would have a positive impact, not danger him.

The character Ms. Jackson is being characterized by the use of situational irony because she seems to be a caring person, especially for her son. So when she remembered a memory of her getting hurt from an electrical outlet , she didn't want her son to face the same thing. Upon this, she bought plug covers so that her son doesn't get hurt but instead he chokes on the covers which makes it useless that it was meant for him not to get hurt but instead he could die anyways. It states, "Ms. Jackson immediately purchased electrical outlet covers to protect her son. The next afternoon she heard her son choking and ran over to him. He was choking on one of the electrical outlet plug covers she purchased". This quote conveys that the plug covers were meant to protect her son but still harmed him anyways. It put his life in danger when it was meant to protect him which conveys some sort of irony.

However, her son managed to take one of the electrical covers and choke on it, maybe because it wasn’t firmly in the outlet or the cover was too small and Ms. Jackson, in efforts to protect him, had put him in danger which is the opposite of what she was trying to do or ironic.

This is an example of situational irony because Ms. Jackson was a a protective mother who didn’t want anything bad occurring to his son. Once Ms. Jackson son started to walk on his own, she was filled with an old memory of her self where she got her hand stuck on the electric cord and got shocked, she would do anything so her son can be safe . It states “ Ms. Jackson immediately purchased electrical outlet covers to protect her son. The next afternoon she heard her son choking and ran over to him. He was choking on one of the electrical outlet plug covers she purchased.“ This quote demonstrates irony because the mother bought electrical outlets to protect his son from getting shocked but those protectors ended up hurting her own down. The mother’s intentions were to protect his son and not harm in any way .

The reason why is Ms. Jackson is a caring and overprotective mother but end up not be able to protect her baby for a electrical outlet plug. For example, it stated “The next afternoon she heard her son choking and ran over to him. He was choking on one of the electrical outlet plug covers she purchased.” This is situational irony because instead of protecting her baby, the baby is chocking on the electrical outlet plug.

Jackson is protective and caring but ends up harming her son when she tries to buy something to protect him. It states in the text"Upon observing this, Ms. Jackson had a flashback of sticking her finger in an electrical outlet and getting a bad shock when she was a child. Ms. Jackson immediately purchased electrical outlet covers to protect her son. The next afternoon she heard her son choking and ran over to him. The reason why I say this is because the mother is overprotective and she was so focused on it that instead of protecting her son she put him at risk. In the paragraph it states “Ms Jackson immediately purchased electrical outlet covers to protect her son... he was choking on one of the plug covers she had purchased.” This shows that she didn’t even realize she put her son at risk instead of protecting, that’s an example of situational irony.
