"Im Not The Only One" by Sam Smith explores the ideal marriage dynamic in the 21st century where a couple lives in the suburbs with the husband working and the wife being at home. However, the song also reveals the harsh realities of infidelity within marriages. The lyrics reveal the emotional toll on the wife, who is aware of the betrayal and attempts to emotionally detach herself while coping with hurt. In today's world, the idea of marriage has not changed much where women are preferably house wives/moms, the men are the ones who build a career but once times do get hard. However, this idea has become a choice and many women now choose to work and have marriages built in equality, mutual respect, and shared decision making. In terms of Hera and Zeus, their relationship shows that men have the ultimate power and have the ability to do as it pleases without facing consequences and Hera is described as a jealous and crazy a woman who punishes the women Zeus has affairs with. This is similar to today's reality of marriage when they go through a rough time, the feelings of jealousy, anger, and resentment arises but the only difference is that now, men AND women are both committing adultery.
