Social Theory

Social or living conditions affect people’s hopes and dreams. People don't have enough money to go to college because they are not placed in a high quality good job paying. That makes people give up on their dreams that they want to accomplish. As to the result of the jobs that are given to people of color, they're located in a low class and due to the color of skin people get small opportunities because they are not seen as high quality or good enough. The lack of education that was given to people of color sends the message to the white superior saying that people are not educated to be given the good jobs of better opportunity. Mostly people of color have the mentality that they don't have the capability to become someone in life because they are not seen as "white" and rich high class. Latinos see themselves as working hard just to get money for their rent and food to keep their family stable. The thinking of being a lawyer, doctor, boss, or president is never thought based on the conditions that they live in and by not being considered as rich. People believe that their dreams will never be accomplished even if they tried. All dreams being crushed. This theory was developed by the all the situations that have been happening about people not reaching their goal in becoming successful in life.

Title:This is why the middle class can't get ahead
Author: NICK HANAUER December 1,
website: http://www.pbs.org/newshour/making-sense/middle-class-cant-get-ahead/
Summary: This website was written by the news and explaining how many people around the bay area is seen as middle class people but yet they are not being seen as being successful in life because their salaries isn't sufficient.
Quote #1: "Only Americans who make less than $23,660 a year are automatically eligible for time-and-a-half pay after working 40 hours a week. Today, that’s only 11 percent of salaried workers. "
Supporting Details: Based on this quote that was introduced it is talking about how people need to get their salaries in order to be seen as they are legible for more opportunities.Due to this people from the middle class that down get that money have the thinking that they will never be able to reach that based on the information that is posted about not being able to reach the money. Also based on the education that they didn't get makes them believe that they cannot reach the goal.

Quote #2: "You feel like you’re struggling harder than your parents did, working longer hours than ever before, and yet falling further and further behind. The reason you feel this way is because most of you are—falling further behind, that is. Adjusted for inflation, average salaries have actually dropped since the early 1970s, while hours for full-time workers have steadily climbed.
Meanwhile, a handful of wealthy capitalists like me are growing wealthy beyond our parents’ wildest dreams, in large part because we’re able to take advantage of your misfortune."
Supporting Details: This quote was stated to the middle class people that are out there and are not making as much money as the rich high class. As to pointing out that class of people they are saying that the only ones that will be successful in life are people that will get a lot of money. Due to the people that are giving up in their dream they are making this quote come true and not even persevere so that they can prove that the words being said are lies. Even though there are words being said by the people that want to see people of color down with no power, people need to stand up and actually show that they can be successful in life.

Title: Not to give up on your dreams
Author: Amanda Dewitt
website: http://www.lifehack.org/articles/communication/7-reasons-not-give-your-dreams.html

Summary: This is a website where has many experiences of people that have been giving up in their dream because they believe they wouldn't be able to reach it. Even though there have been many failures in the path of humans they have still been persevering and until they family accomplish it and everything comes out as successful. As a pathway to success people struggle a lot but always they need to keep on going and come right back up.

Quote#1: ""Failure!" This word seems counter-intuitive in reasons not to give up your dreams, but failure is more beneficial than you might think. Most people don’t pursue their dreams for fear of failure. Little do they know, this is one of the biggest ways we learn and grow!"
Supporting Details: This quote said that failure comes to everyone but that doesn't matter because from what we failed, is what we actually learn from. Nothing matters when we fail because next time we rise up and everything comes out better. Just as to dreams that people believe want to achieve, will come true if they keep on going because even though they fail once they won't fail again.

Quote #2: "Thomas Edison’s teachers called him “stupid” and he was fired multiple times before “failing” 1000 times attempting to invent the lightbulb. Michael Jordan was once cut from his high school basketball team. He later said,
“I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career.
I’ve lost almost 300 games
26 times I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot … and missed.
I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. That is why I succeed.”
Supporting Details: This quote was spoken by a person that is famous. all his words go to his past when he failed so much but yet he still kept on going and not giving up. if he would of giving up he wouldn't be where he is know in life. so many struggles come along the way but as to coming down and rising up again makes people learn. Failure always comes and it will constantly come along the way until that turn comes to show that all that hard work will pay off because all the success is on it's way. it just needs patients and hard work so that people can reach their dream.

This song is by M.I.A. called Borders. I chose this song because to me it is connected to my social theory of dreams not coming true due to people giving up. As to the name of the song "Borders" it straight talks about why borders even exist. It expresses the term of freedom and that we as people have the key to life. As to my perspective of the song I see that M.I.A.'s analysis is saying that people can be successful in life but all politics, borders, police shots, identities, privilege, and etc. is the harm being acted towards people of color. This world is harming people but there should be a change and us as people have the key to change the way how things are being seen and brought up to society. we have the power to change everything.

Solution

Based on all the evidence that I have researched I believe that there is a solution to everything except for death. As to starting of the solution to the dreams that people believe will never reach is all false. People end to understand that life isn't easy and that there will always be struggles along the way. As to the community where we as middle class and people of color, we are targeted as not being successful and even we are seen as in our future locked up. Due to these types of statistics we need to understand that we can be someone in life and prove that all the things that are being said are lies. So much to the people that want to see us as low and not successful need the power to show and even rub in their faces that what they once said are all lies. We need to be educated and be inspired by others that are successful so that we can look up to them. It is a true fact that the majority of people come and immigrate to the USA for better opportunities but once they get here everything is difficult based on not knowing English. English is the first language that the US supposable needed to be able to communicate but their are also other opportunities lead to the people that are new to the US. Even though people who immigrate don't have as much as opportunities as the rich high class they are opening the opportunity to the next generation that is coming along the way. Babies will start with a huge advantage along the way because they will learn English fast and with that so much opportunities will be open to them. Parents that have their babies in the Us need to inspire them by bring their stories in and explaining why they immigrated to the US. Stories from the past always affect children but encourages them to still keep on going and not fall because the want to make their families happy and proud of them. All what parents want is to see their children having a better life that what they had and not suffer along the way. Their will be struggles but later on in their life it will pay of.
