In Northern Ireland they speak English, because it is British territory, on the other hand, Ireland dont like to much the English people and because of that, they teach Irish to children as an obligatory subject at school.
This happens because they want to make English disappear as the main language of their country
But the funny part is that the 90% of ireland say the know english, but the reality is that only the 10% know

I think they both have a very big problem, Maria has no idea of English, which causes her to not understand anything and every conversation that she begins ends in catastrophe, Fernando knows a little more English, the problem is that he doesn't know how to pronounce what causing him to feel judged by his accent, to me, the problem that Maria had, has never happened to me in my life, because the only time i lived out of my country was last year in Ireland and I had a decent English level so I understand things and people understood me, obviously the case of Fernando, I think it happened to all of us, for example, when i land on ireland, i didn't have very good pronunciation and I have noticed a great improvement in it throughout the year.

-I think that these two wants to improve a learn more of the varieties of english but they have a lot of difficulties.I think that they english is not the problem,each one have his pronunciation and his ways to learn and improve.

-I would recommend them to improve and practice with persons with similar pronunciation

-I feel bad for them because it can be a stressfull situation and for be judge for the pronuciation

-I don,t have any similar experience like that

1. Vocabulary

There are many interesting differences in the vocabulary of the two versions of English. For example, a cupboard in UK English is referred to as a press in Ireland. Some of the other examples are as follows:

UK English – Irish English

Bacon – Rashers

Pencil sharpener – Pencil pairer

Airing cupboard – Hot press

Trainers – Runners

2. Grammar

As Gaelic has no word for ‘yes’ or ‘no’, questions are answered using the same verb that was present in the question. Hence, when an Irish person answers a simple ‘yes’ or ‘no’ question, they would use the same verb. For example,

“Do you have a pen?”

“I do.”

“Did you watch the movie?”

“We did.”

Irish English also has repeats adverbs for emphasis or to make the action stronger. For example,

“He was a very, very handsome man, so he was”

3. Usage

Another peculiar distinction is the usage of the words ‘on me’. In Gaelic, things happen on you and not with you. For example,

“My laptop is after breaking/dying on me.”

4. Pronunciation

Each country definitely has its own slang, which is also the case in these two regions. As Ireland is a bilingual country, the English spoken there has been greatly influenced by Gaelic and so can come across as strikingly different. One form this takes is the difference in the way the Irish pronounce ‘th’. The British pride themselves in retaining the purest pronunciation of ‘th’ while in Ireland, ‘th’ is pronounced as ‘d’. This shortened pronunciation adds to the faster pace of conversation in Irish English.
