Russia is a big place because “Russian rivers stretch for 3 million km., dumping nearly 4,000 cu. km. of water annually. Forests cover about 40% of the entire Russian land mass, the total lumber reserves of 79 billion cu. m. The largest forests can be found in the Siberian taiga, the Far East and the northern European territories. Coniferous trees (fir trees, pine trees, cedars, larches, firs, etc.) are the main tree varieties there. Mixed forests are popular in mid-Russian regions”,This supports it because forest cover much of the land. There are tundras too and they have lots of artics. It’s really cold up there according to the text. People have to eat bread and vodka. They tend to eat exotic food like famous exotic soups and having lots of warm food because up there is really cold and they have a assortment of food. This is a social impact too, People there speak russian and they go to church as a religion and buddhism is another religion of theirs. According to the text-"The Embassy of the Russian Federation to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland", There is a variety of religions in Russia and different people like Ukraine people live in Russia too. People think that religon is important in Russia because they do it in there daily lives. There are laws passed about it.

They have There are 40 regions at Russia. There are 7 main places of Russia. Russia is up at the north of Asia. Russia’s budget is being cut and it is social spending favored, this will impact future growth prospects. According to the article “Putin’s Economy May Be in Even Worse Shape Than It Looks”. “Russian budgets are being cut, said Aleksashenko. Moreover, the cuts hit investment hardest (immediate social spending is favored), diminishing future growth prospects”, Article-“Putin’s Economy May Be in Even Worse Shape Than It Looks”. This supports it because it talks about Russia’s economy. This is a especially true for the gas, gas is getting cheaper because it use to be 65 rubles per barrel and now it’s 34 rubles per barrel. Russia's population is approximately 142,9 million inhabitants, roughly 102 million in the European part, and 41 million in the Asian part. The rate of children is 1,000 child a live born. The people there have different cultures besides from Russia, they have their own population like Turkic. Snow is critical factor of agriculture because it depends on latitude and altitude, since there is a lot of snow up there. It doesn't rain a lot at Russia because it has little ocean exposures . According to the text-Climate, "Because Russia has little exposure to ocean influences, most of the country receives low to moderate amounts of precipitation. Highest precipitation falls in the northwest, with amounts decreasing from northwest to southeast across European Russia. The wettest areas are the small, lush subtropical region adjacent to the Caucasus and along the Pacific coast", Russia is not near the ocean then it doesn't receive a lot of rainfall.

http://www.rusemb.org.uk/russiageography/

The Embassy of the Russian Federation to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland

this is how much regions there are in russia.

http://www.thefiscaltimes.com/2015/08/18/Putin-s-Economy-May-Be-Even-Worse-Shape-It-Looks

Putin’s Economy May Be in Even Worse Shape Than It Looks

http://countrystudies.us/russia/24.htm

Climate

Russia may have many special features, however it wouldn't be special in cleanliness. After their break with the Soviet Union, things have gotten way worse in Russia. Due to human pollution, half of Russia does not have access to clean drinking water. Worse than that, even the country's air is polluted. In addition, many Russians have issues generating solid waste. But the country generates it own waste- hazardous nuclear waste because of all the pollution. Even Ebola had affected many Russians.

Russia's government has put laws against pollution. But the citizens of Russia couldn't care less about their own country. Russians had been the ones to ruin their ecosystem, and make their environment so unhealthy. Only one- third of the country was willing to help. This had startled many of the public, and they realized that Russia would take a very long time to get back into shape.

http://fas.org/irp/nic/environmental_outlook_russia.html

(The article is called Key Judgements)

Russia has many ways of movement. Similar to the U.S, it uses many transportations, such as trains, cars, boats, railroads, and so on. For this reason, Russia may be one of the most geographic countries in the world. This country also contains many roads, railroads, and airports. However, Russia is best known for its railroads. Russia also has many exports and imports. Some of its main export countries are the Netherlands, China, Germany, Italy, and the Areas. Russia is known for exporting Crude Petroleum, Petroleum Gas, Petroleum Refined, Coal Briquettes, and Raw Aluminum. It's main import countries are China, Germany, Belarus, Ukraine, and the United States. They deliver items like cars, packaged medicaments, vehicle parts, computers, and broadcasting equipment. Russia communicates with other countries in many ways. A few line of communication they use are ARABsat, Autodin, CB, the cellular telephone, the Central American Microwave System, and the Coaxial Cable. These are a few ways that Russians interact with people all over the world.

http://calvertjournal.com/features/show/2234/russian-media-independent-compass

(The article is called Calvert Journal)

There are many things that makes Russia unique, special, and different. What makes Russia unique is that it is the largest country in the world and it covers 11 time zones. It is also a unique and different place from other places because the Russian alphabet has 33 Cyrillioc letters. This country is really unique and amazing, Russia had the first man in space, the first space walk, the first double sided phone and many more. Russia is a beautiful and has many peaceful places. But Russia is also the 5th most dangerous place to be a journalist. To support this in the article "What is unique about Russia and the Russian language?" It states, "To start with it is the largest country in the world, covering 11 time zones. The country had the first man in space, the first space walk, the first double-sided smart phone and much more. Russians seem to be born patriotic. There are 33 Cyrillic letters in the Russian alphabet, several letters are the same as in Greek," this supports my statement of why and how Russia is different from other places. Also in the article "Russia: 5th Most Dangerous Country for a Journalist” it states, ”because to be a journalist in Russia means literally putting your life on the line,” this supports why Russia is a very dangerous place for journalists.

One human characteristics of Russia is the "Trans-Siberian Railway." This a famous and popular tourist attraction. This train is used for passengers who are going to go to there destination overnight. This railway has first, second, and third class passengers. Some features include private bathrooms and showers. To support this in the article “10 Top Tourist Attractions in Russia” it states, ”Most travelers use the train as overnight accommodation from one destination to the next. The train features first, second- and third-class sleepers, some with private bathrooms and showers,"this supports my claim of why this place is a human characteristic of Russia. This is one of the many famous places in Russia, there are many more.

One physical characteristic of Russia is that Russia is really cold, generally it is a cold place.Usually when it is suppose to be warm it rarely goes over 80 degrees fahrenheit. Also one more physical characteristic of Russia is that it is home to the deepest lake in the world,Lake Baikal. This is also a famous attraction in Russia, but it is not man made. This lake is 5,314 ft deep and is also the largest freshwater lake in the world. To support this in the article “What are the physical features of Russia?”,it states,”Russia is filled with harsh terrain, extremely cold temperatures and a climate that remains steady throughout the year. The temperatures during the warm months rarely reach above 80 degrees Fahrenheit and the area remains cool and damp,”this supports the physical characteristic that Russia is cold most of the times, but when it is warm it is not over dramatically hot either. Also in the article “The World's Deepest Lake “ it states,”Lake Baikal in southern Russia is the world's deepest lake. It is 5,314 feet deep (1,637 meters) and it's bottom is at 4,215 feet (1,285 meters) below sea level. Lake Baikal is also the world's largest freshwater lake in terms of volume,”this supports another physical characteristic of Russia. It supports that Lake Baikal is a physical characteristic of Russia. Also there are a lot of mountains there. One mountain sight is Mount Elbrus. This is also a famous tourist attraction. Its located in the Caucasus Mountain Range in the southern area of Russia. Its also included in the Seven Summits. To support this in the article “Mount Elbrus” it states, “Mount Elbrus is located in the Caucasus Mountain Range in Southern Russia. At 5,642 meters (18,510 ft), Elbrus is included as one of the Seven Summits, the highest summits on each of the planet’s seven continents, attracting both experienced and novice mountain climbers”.

Russia has many traditions one tradition is easter.A lot of people in russia celebrate easter. The day before, churches prepare religious processions and night services. There are also feasts that occur often during easter in Russia. These feasts usually last up to 7 days. Also an old Russian easter tradition is to give gifts to the poor, relatives and even strangers etc.To support this in the article “Easter In Russia” it states “This Christian holiday has been widely celebrated all over Russia. The day before Easter all churches hold night services and organize religious processions around churches. Christian Easter feast lasts seven days and is called the Holy Week or Sedmitsa.Easter is the day of abundant food. After the Great Lent the best and the most delicious food is on tables. The main meals are ritual ones: Easter cakes, kulich and painted eggs. And, of course, the old Russian tradition of Easter is to send and deliver gifts to poor families, relatives and strangers, orphanages, hospitals and prisons. Wondering beggars are not an exception: people say that "from Easter to the Ascension Christ with the Apostles travel on earth testing everyone for mercy and kindness”.Also another holiday or tradition in Russia is Maslenitsa. This is also known as pancake week, this is one of the most cheerful holidays in Russia. This lasts a week in Russia. It was once the time for the remembrance of the dead, now they have changed the event and reasoning of “pancake week”.Everyday in the week its celebrated, they do different things.According to the article “Traditional Russian customs during the Pancake Week” it states “On Monday Maslenitsa was welcomed. On that day people made the straw-stuffed figure of Winter, dressed it in old women’s clothing and singing carried it on sleigh around the village.Tuesday was called “zaigrysh” (game day). From that day on the whole village started all sorts of activities: sleigh riding, folk festivals, skomorokh (traveling actors) and puppet shows. The streets were full of people.

Wednesday - gourmand – opened feasts in houses with blini and other dishes. Each household had tables with delicious food, baked pancakes, and brewed beer.On Thursday – revelry – came the climax of games and fun. It was then that the hottest fistfights took place. If on Wednesday sons-in-law were treated with pancakes in their mothers-in-law homes, on Friday it was their turn to arrange evenings with blini. On the day before mothers-in-law had to send to their sons-in-law homes everything necessary for blini making: pans, ladles etc., and fathers-in-law sent a bag of buckwheat and some butter. The disrespect of the tradition from the part of a son-in-law was considered dishonor and insult; it was a reason for life-long enmity.Saturday was devoted to the visits of relatives paid to young wives.Sunday was named “forgiveness”. On that day people asked each other for forgiveness for all grievances and troubles; in the evening people went to cemeteries and “bid farewell” to the dead,”all this states all the different activities done on each day of “pancake week”.

First Paragraph Links : http://rbth.com/blogs/2015/07/28/what_is_unique_about_russia_and_the_russian_language_48053.html(Article name is: Russia Beyond the Headlines)

http://liberalplanet.com/2014/03/16/russia-5th-most-dangerous-country-for-a-journalist/(Article name is: Liberal Planet)

Second Paragraph Links:

http://www.touropia.com/tourist-attractions-in-russia/(Article name is: Touropia)

Third Paragraph Links: http://www.ask.com/geography/physical-features-russia-59190d3f3a8ff8b6(Article name is: Ask)

http://geology.com/records/deepest-lake.shtml (Article name is: Geology)
Fourth Paragraph Links: www.advantour.com/russia/traditions.htm(Article name is: Advantour)
