As the years pass, we can realize that English has become one of the most important languages ​​that should be spoken by people, for this reason most educational activities try to integrate this issue into their curriculum. When we speak English as a foreign language we mean learning a language very different from your mother tongue; This process is more effective if it is developed within the classroom, keeping there a safe control of the corresponding activities.

Stephen Krashen talks about the Theories of the Acquisition of a Second Language, he is an expert in the field of linguistics and that is why he specializes in the acquisition of language and its development since the 1980s. Krashen's theory of acquisition of second languages ​​is based on five hypotheses, for this reason it is important to talk about acquisition; It is an automatic course that unfolds at the level of the subconscious, thanks to the lack of communication, there is no conscious audacity on the part of the individual, that is to say that for the acquisition to occur a great interaction of the individual with the language is necessary. A clear example: In the case of Americans who arrive in Colombia and whose language is not theirs, they are obliged to learn it in order to communicate, they acquire this language without any formal knowledge about it. On the other hand, learning is a conscious matter, due to the formal knowledge of the language to be acquired. Through this learning the individual has the ability to explain the grammar rules in the target language.

For “Krashen the Acquisition system is the stated indicator and the learning system is the monitor, the role of the monitor is or should be of minor importance, it is only used to correct speech deviations and to give a more fluid speech” (Krashen , 1980). According to Krashen there is an ordinance that is seen in the acquisition of grammatical structures of a foreign language just as there is an order in the acquisition of rules of the mother tongue. However, that order is not the same in the acquisition of the mother tongue and the second language. This hypothesis is about the whole axis of Krashen's theory, for him the acquisition only happens if the person is exposed to samples of the target language, must be, higher at his current level.

It is important that the student acquires and possesses a second language, but for this he must have motivation, trust himself and have self-esteem. All language learners start learning the language, but not everyone acquires it. That is, the acquisition of a second language refers to the final learning process that allows the student to master a second language in the same way that he does with the first.
