Rap music, specifically songs like this, convey a picture of a life we don't have to live, but is a daily reality to many in America. While many people think of rap as raunchy and vulgar party music, Tupac Shakur uses it as almost a form of poetry to show "how the other half lives." I think his message of respect towards women is especially important in this climate of sexual harassment and assault that has been coming out in the news recently. Overall though, I think this song is important because it challenges at least one idea everyone holds.
