I think this is a great song, as it challenges us to see the world from a view we don't usually see. Rap music, specifically songs like this, convey a picture of a life we don't have to live, but is a daily reality to many in America. While many people think of rap as raunchy and vulgar party music, Tupac Shakur uses it as almost a form of poetry to show "how the other half lives." I think his message of respect towards women is especially important in this climate of sexual harassment and assault that has been coming out in the news recently. Overall though, I think this song is important because it challenges at least one idea everyone holds. Ideas need to be challenged, and art is one of the best ways to do that.

Wow, Adam! I am really surprised by your choice of song this week. I thought it had a great message and I'm happy that I got to hear it. I think it's really relevant right now, given all the horrible news recently regarding all the sexual abuse cases that have come up. I think that the part about staying strong if you're a single mother stood out the most for me, because there are so many single mothers out there and it's insanely hard to raise a child alone. I wish that rap had more positive messages like this song does, because a lot of rap is really disrespectful to women and promotes things like violence and drug abuse.

I really liked the change of pace here. This was a really good song, and it had a really important message. I liked how candidly he spoke about the way the world is and how it needs to change, specifically regarding society's treatment of women and people of color. I thought that he was able to really deliver this message in a way that was artistic and poignant, and this is something that people would pay attention to. I really like when celebrities use their platforms and their talents to tackle issues that make huge impacts. He really challenges the way certain people are viewed and tries to change some minds with this song. Nice pick

I like how this Friday inspiration was very different from all the other ones. I like how he managed to turn political ideas into a song to raise awareness. The song is very relevant with what is going on in the world lately with all of the cases of sexual assault coming to light. It shows that everyone should be treated equally which not everyone seems to think even in the 21 century which is crazy to think about.

I really liked the message. Often times, rap songs have a shallow meaning, or even no meaning at all, but this song had an underlying message. The lyrics basically tell listeners to keep their head up even in the toughest of times. I feel like the song specifically reached out to single mothers through constant references to raising a child alone. I also liked that part of the song talked about giving up the old life and striving towards the dream of being a singer.

This song was really good, and it had an even better message. I think it's important for people, especially in today's world, to really focus on keeping their heads up no matter how bad a situation is. My favorite part of the song was when he was talking about showing everyone respect and treating them equally, specifically women. There are so many people who even today treat others unfairly, and I think this song has a good message that goes against that disrespect.

I really like this song. I had never heard this song before but I think it has a great message for women. Especially with all of what is going on in our world today. It really brought to life some of the issues with the respect of women. The unfair treatment of women is still so prevalent in society today, and the song really exemplifies that.

Thank you for sharing this song with us today, Adam. It is a great reminder to persevere despite of all the difficulties in life. Hearing about all the situations in this song makes me especially realize how minimal my troubles and/or worries actually are, which makes me extremely grateful for the life I have. There are many other ways people can connect to the song, so I feel like it really speaks to a lot of people.

I just quickly looked to see when this song came out, and I am surprised to see that it was in 1993, over 20 years ago. This amazes me because the issues brought about in this song are still ever prevalent today and no changes have been made. It is very inspiring that a man would write a song to bring the conflicts of the world to light, especially the mistreatment of women. Music is one of the best ways to spread awareness and create a sentimental connection between an individual and an issue in society, so I really enjoyed this song, and I think the theme of it is very important.

This is actually a great message written in this song. Although I have heard of Tupac, I had never heard any of his music. This song is very good though! I like how it tells men to respect women because they came from women. It is especially relevant to today when so many women are coming out to say they've been raped. The lyrics in this song are very inspirational in such a way that they encourage us to give back to others and to love one another.

It is very important to respect women because they are how new life gets created and they are the first inspiration for the new life. Everyone needs to inspire our younger generation so that they are able to grow up and make our world a better place.
