This is a representation of when Shu grabbed Nut and raised her over Geb. This is why Nut is the goddess of the sky and why Geb is the god of the earth. The ancient Egyptians belived that Shu and Geb worked together, as the sky and as the ground. Shu is the god of air and she was spit out by Atum, the very first god. Atum rose from the waters on a hill called Ben-Ben.

Temples are very important to ancient Egyptians. They were important because temples are a place where the Egyptians could go and communicate with their gods. The temples were considered dwelling places for the gods. There was a temple in every city of ancient Egypt. They were also used for the afterlife. The priests were the ones to get the Egyptians ready for the afterlife.
