         <description><![CDATA[<div>1. The Babylonians used a base-60 number system, also known as a sexagesimal system<br>2. Though it is not know for sure, the most commonly accepted theory is that the base-60 system was adopted when eastern traders using the duodecimal system (base-12) started trading with civilizations using a quinary (base-5) system. In order for both groups to understand each other, they merged the two systems and created a base-60 system that both groups could understand (since 5 x 12 = 60). The merging of cultures that formed Macedonia coincided with this merging of two different number systems.<br>3. This sexagesimal system still has many impacts today, 6000 years after it was created. We use a sexagesimal system for keeping time, dividing each hour into 60 minutes and each minutes into 60 seconds. This system is also what we used for angles, with 360° (60*60) making up a circle.<br>4.<br>10 in base-60 = 60 in base-10<br>16 in base-60 = 66 in base-10<br>100 in base-60 = 3600 in base-10<br>121 in base-60 = 3,721 in base-10</div>]]></description>

For the Mayans, some numbers were considered more sacred than others. 20 was one of those numbers because it represented the number of fingers and toes you could count on.&nbsp;<br>3.
