It provides different examples of how to create a welcoming environment by having a set up routine and predictability, using visuals, lectures, and the importance of supporting ELL student with assignments and giving feedbacks. This resource supports research-based practices because it gives great information about how educators can support students in the classroom. It examines different classroom strategies educators can use in the classroom to increase student participation and learning. It explains different methods of teaching that increases ELLs learning such as the use of total physical response, communicative language teaching, promoting pair and group work.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>8.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Five Suggestions for Creating a Supportive Learning Environment. (2008, October). </strong><a rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://provost.tufts.edu/celt/files/tipstemplatesupportiveenvironment.pdf"><strong>https://provost.tufts.edu/celt/files/tipstemplatesupportiveenvironment.pdf</strong></a></p><p>This guide provides educators with simple ideas to have a supportive learning environment for students. “Supportive learning environments can validate the presence of individuals and encourage participation and involvement, (CELT, 2008).” One of the ideas is to be available for students outside of class. I think that this is greatly important because some students might not ask for help in front of other students, but feel more confident asking for help when there is no other student present. Providing tutoring is another idea offered for those students that might need the extra support.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>9.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <em>Creating a welcoming classroom</em>. WIDA. WIDA’s website provides with additional resources specific to the ELL population such as testing. (2020, September 1). <em>How to use total physical response (TPR) in the classroom</em>. TeachHUB. </strong><a rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.teachhub.com/teaching-strategies/2020/09/how-to-use-total-physical-response-tpr-in-the-classroom/"><strong>https://www.teachhub.com/teaching-strategies/2020/09/how-to-use-total-physical-response-tpr-in-the-classroom/</strong></a></p><p>This article provides information on the benefits and how to use total physical response in the classroom. “Physically interacting with language requires mental connections that trigger memory and increase recall; so, with the repetition of meaningful movement with hearing and/or reading words, students improve their ability to recall particular words and definitions, (Heflin, 2020).” TPR is a great strategy to use in the classroom and it increases students’ knowledge. These apps are great for the classroom because the teacher can create different activities in them for the students and then get true data on the students. It provides English lessons for students to support them learning the new language. Teachers can create different activities for students to work at their own paced. “Google Classroom helps educators create engaging learning experiences they can personalize, manage, and measure, (Google, n.d.).” This resource supports research-based practices because it allows ELL students to work and learned at their own paced and allowing them to ask for support from the educator when needed. This can definitely increase students confident since they will be working at their own paced and learning from their mistakes. &nbsp;</p><p><br/></p><p><strong>5.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <em>At Starfall, children have fun while they learn</em>. Starfall Education: Kids Games, Movies, Books &amp; Music for K-5 and above. It has lessons plan, worksheets, books and music that go along with different content. It is a different approach for students to learn content and it provides great resources for parents as well. Starfall has activities for both reading and math and it is game based, so students engagement increases since they think they are playing.</p><p><br/></p><p><strong>6.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <em>Online curricula and solutions</em>. Imagine learning uses culturally responsive material and curriculum to support student with foundational skills. This resource supports research-based practices in working with ELLs because imagine learning uses material for their activities that is culturally relevant for students and students are able to increase and/or use their background knowledge when working in imagine learning.</p><p><br/></p><p><strong>7.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Khan Academy. Khan Academy. </strong><a rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.khanacademy.org/"><strong>https://www.khanacademy.org/</strong></a></p><p>Khan Academy provides educators with different resources for the classroom. It provides activities for different grade levels, different subjects and standards. This resource is a great tool to use in the classroom and for student to use to work at their own pace. Khan Academy provides student with personalized learning, providing them with lessons at the level that they need the most support with. Khan academy supports research-based practices because it can be as a tool to differentiate instruction and to provide students with the support they need.</p><p><br/></p><p><strong>8.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Schwartz, L. The article also provides with learning apps and websites that can be beneficial for ELLs. This article also explains some of the benefits of using YouTube videos for classroom instruction. Using visual to support instruction is a beneficial tool for ELL students.
