Lesson planning is useful in a variety of ways. For the teacher, it allows better time management and helps the lesson to run smoothly since they're able to plan ahead. Additionally, lesson plans can be revised, improved on, and reused which makes less work for the teacher in the future. Finally, planning for lessons ensures that the curriculum requirements and targets can be met.
The Student
For students, lesson plans allow them to stay engaged during the lesson and learn as much as they can from it.
Other Staff

It's important to learn from others in the same profession and examples such as this video and the lesson planning articles are perfect resources. 
As for students, lesson plans are delivered indirectly. They are not delivered as a form of writing, but as actions being taken out and directions being given. Detailing the amount of time the lesson will take allows the teacher to plan ahead of the lesson and helps students to stay on track with the assignment.
 Listing materials needed let's the teacher know what supplies students will need access to so they can set up the necessary materials in a way where students can easily get to them. 
Having examples of past students work or demonstration videos helps students to see what their process as well as their finished product should look similar to. Additionally, it gives the teacher an expectation for students level of work. 
Overall, these rhetorical moves help the teacher to outline the lesson and allow for it to be broken down and planned step by step. Also, she was able to motivate even the students that were the least bit interested in art. The length of time allows for teachers to make a timeline of their units. Additionally, the objectives for the lessons help keep the teacher and class focused on smaller goals that will make up the general lesson. In addition to this, the procedures and materials instruct the teacher on how exactly these goals can be accomplished through the lesson.
