The reason why i chose not to do an E.P is because if feel like it wouldn't show my whole potential in singing, as you can edit and add effects which i find is un-natural. I was in a band with Hannah Taylor and Will Harding, and our idea for our project was ‘throwback songs’. 

I think that we had used our time effectively as there was times when someone wasn’t in and we didn’t have that much time overall to complete it. We didn’t end up doing the mashup cover as it was quite complicated to sort out for a full 4:10 to fit loads of different songs on there, and as we changed from a mashup, to a cover song with 2 hours left before our performance, I think we used the time effectively to come up with a plan B which was singing ‘nothing on you’ by B.O.B and Bruno Mars. 

The main challenges in this project was definitely trying to come up with the mashup as we were struggling to find different songs to fit onto the backing track. We worked out that we needed around 30 songs to fit the whole backing track but we could only come up with 1:30 mintues worth of songs. Also trying to work out the harmonies and who’s singing what. This is why we chose to do another cover as we wouldn’t of finished he mashup in time. Some other challenges we had was finding somewhere to rehearse as there were times where places were fully booked or not everyone was in so it was hard to rehearse without someone there. 

I have learnt in this project how to communicate more with the audience and my band members as well. I have learnt how to make decisions in such a small amount of time, and taking the risk of changing things last minute, but able to still perform it at the end. I also learnt to not just stand in the same spot throughout the performance and to move around, showing body language. I also felt a lot more confident with the performance as both the songs were in my range, and were both songs that I enjoyed performing. 

I think that our performance went quite well, seeing that we had changed our song 2 hours before our performance which put a lot of pressure on us, but it came out better than we thought. I felt that there was good energy between us all on stage and everyone looked confident. There was a point in the second song ‘nothing on you’ where Will had froze, and forgot part of his parts of the song but he managed to get himself back on track and carried on. There was some parts we could’ve worked on, like in ‘love the way you lie’ the song starts before the backing track played so it was all about getting on time to the beat at the beginning and also when it got to the rap part, will was either rapping a bit too fast or too slow, but still managed to keep on beat. Other than all of that I thought that our performance went better than we had imagined due to the changes we had made. 

The skills I have learnt will help me a lot in the future, for example communication with others on stage and towards the audience will help because I will be working with other people in the future in anything I’m doing so it’s key that I know how to communicate to people in my group to make things work out better and easier  for us. Also, to plan our project better and make sure that what we chose, is what we can do and have the time to do and to be a bit more organised, like organising the songs and stage presents in advance so when it comes to it, there won’t be no problems or complications. 

Overall, I think our performance went well and even from the mistakes that were made. It is a skill for us to learn for future notice and it well help us out in the long run.

So we have decided to scrap the mashup and come up with another cover to sing. Her first song ‘Right to be wrong’ she was singing the song with a lot of passion and effection and was singing it as if she had wrote the lyrics herself. She was also showing a lot of body language as well which made her performance more effective and better to watch. Her second song ‘Purple Rain’ also showed a lot of emotion as well as she was really showing those emotions in those high notes, she showed that she was confident singing those high notes as well. She also showed a lot of body language, raising her arms up when it got to a big part of the song which shows she was putting her all into it. Her third song ‘Natural Women’ she was really telling the story and showing each emotion of the song. She looked and sounded confident and was interacting well with the audience and herself on stage, not just standing still, doing little sways which was really effective in her performance.

What Naomi could’ve improved with her performance in all her songs was when there was part of the songs where it was quite high or it was more her vocals then backing track to put a bit more effort into getting those notes and not making it as breathy and more belting, but not too much. It worked with some parts of the songs but there were times where she could’ve put a little bit more effort to get those high notes out. 

Overall, I think Naomi done really well with her performance. She was really confident, showed a lot of emotions in all 3 songs and really told the ‘story’ of them all. Also finding my own voice in singing as before i weren't quit sure what my range was and now that i know its in a low pitch. I have also enjoyed working with different types of musicians, getting into bands and performing different types of songs that i usually wouldn't do myself. Being at ACM has made my confidence go up a lot as before i joined i wouldn't sing in front of anybody whereas now i can get up on stage without a care in the world.

Some things that i have found challenging during this course at ACM is when the whole class would perform a song that was already chosen to perform on a Friday, and mostly it was a song that wasn't in my range which i found difficult because sometimes i would be straining my own voice  to perform it, or i wouldn't perform it at all because i didn't feel comfortable doing it.

Next year i would like to come back to ACM to do Level 3 because i think it would be a good experience and theres nothing i want to do more than music.
