It has three stories in it, each a story of two of the kids in the anger management club.  The first story told by Angus Bethune with his soon to be girlfriend with a messed up past, Sarah Byrnes. They set out on a road trip to find Sarah’s run away mom. The next is told by Montana West, a school writer trying to publish a story in the school paper but her adopted dad (the head of the school board) is censoring it. And finally the story told by a teacher Mr. S and Marcus James about a openly Black/gay student. Who was killed by a boating accident by a couple white students. They set out to prove those kids “accident” was really murder. The entire book shows lots of raw emotions. Fear, abuse, anger and prejudice. But also love, power and freedom.

A girl Sarah Byrnes has an abusive father, he got so mad once that he burned her cheeks when little. It got so bad her mother ran away. But it wasn't always like that, some days he came home fine, and someday’s he would come home drunk and angry. But that made Sarah and her mother fear for everyday to see which place he was in. I wanted to know how many kids had to deal with this type of situation.

From DoSomething.org it reports that over 2.9 million cases are reported each year. That's terrifying. Some kids can't tell someone who could help... in the New York times it states of a girl who'd been whipped by her mother. She says “I never dared speak to anybody, because if I did I would get whipped.” She is living in fear that she can't get out of. I never had to live with something so terrifying. And I honestly don't know what they must live like. I learned from this book that kids have messed up lives. This was just a fiction story, but the things told in it are very much real. I’ve only ever seen abuse in movies or books, but it could be happening to the people I see everyday at school.
