Lives in an old falling apart house and she is trapped in a room where she sees a lady trapped in the wallpaper so if that is not gothic IDK what is. the one part in this book "It is stripped off the paper - in great patches all around the head of my bed, about as far as I can reach, and is a great place on the other side of the room low down. The element of gothicism being used here is more than just a word of explanation. This quote represents how she felt trying to relieve herself by writing her ideas down on a paper but with her being sick and having no support behind her writing, it makes it really hard for her to try more. This kinda thing leads a person to a deep depression.
