Families couldn't leave their house without worrying that they won't return home. Children had to stop going to school because of the threat in Iraq. Christians couldn't leave their homes at all because they were getting killed when they left. Community members seemed to think that Christians were a threat to this world and that they didn't know what they were talking about and that they didn't deserve to be in the world. Although, throughout this struggle, the Christians continued to stand for what they believed in and protect their families. 

I chose this video because I personally found it very inspiring. In this video, china churches have been closed down because of rules they are making like cameras and rewriting the bible to be easy to understand if churches do not change they are shut down foo good, one man has been to jail because of his beliefs but keeps going back to what he believes, and use underground churches.

Sky news wrote” Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt has said he is 'appalled' at the ongoing persecution of Christians. One of the countries clamping down is China. Churches continue to be closed, and Christians have been arrested because of their faith. That is because the country is officially an atheist state, with freedom of religion guaranteed in the constitution.”

In this video they talk about how the police shut down churches and arrest many people because of the faith they believe in, being sentenced for 10 to 13 years. Taking down churches and replacing billboards of Jesus also they seized the bible in some places, people of faith in China did not get treated well. Jin Mingri (house church pastor) said” It is probably the largest incident of the government using public power to apply pressure on a house church in the past 10 years, and is still going on today.” as he refused to put cameras inside his house church. Hundreds of thousands of churches were being shut down or destroyed in China.

During the Coronavirus pandemic the persecution of christians has increased. In many countries christians have been refused aid because of their religion. "In 2021 1 in 8 christians  face high levels of persecution and discrimination because of their faith" There was a 60% increase  from 2020-2021. As you can see the torture they receive is brutal. Part of the reason the torture was as bad as it was it because the Roman Leader at the time wasn't a very good man. He enjoyed the tortures to catholics making him a psychopath. Even if you weren't catholic you weren't free from the pain. If you were muslim you received the same torture as the catholics. At the end of the video you notice that a roman man notices his catholic friend being burned and he's one of some romans that realize this wasn't okay. This horrible torture continued for over 400 years before they decided that enough was enough. It was a big black mark in roman history that will never be forgotten. The possession and distribution of religious texts remains a criminal offense under North Korean law, so proselytization is impossible. Being found with mere pages of a Bible could result in immediate death or imprisonment in one of the terrible prison or labor camps where slave labor, torture, deprivation, and death are commonplace.
