Session 1: Jesus Invited Good Friends

This week we talked about how Jesus invited good friends, which we see in how He chose His followers in Matthew 4:18-25 and Luke 5:1-11. Jesus invites us to follow Him, just like the disciples, and then we get to be in community with Him and with others! As a family, ask each other—how can we follow Jesus this week and be “All In”?

Session 2: Anyone Can Be God’s Friend

This week we talked about how anyone can be God’s friend, like we see in how the Church began and grew in Acts 1–2. God welcomes anyone and everyone to be His friend! Share with your kids this week stories about your childhood best friend. Talk about how we can go “All In” and be friends with God, just like we are with people.

Kids are going to learn over the next few weeks about how Jesus invited good friends, that anyone can be God’s friend, how God connects us to each other, and that God wants us to work together

What kinds of things can we do to help us learn more about Jesus so we can follow Him?

Family Fun Friday

Play an alphabet game tonight. Name a city, state, or country that starts with the letter A. Then, the next person does the same but with the letter B. Keep going and see if you can make it through the entire alphabet. Then talk about how amazing it is that all the people in these different places are invited to be a part of God’s community. Take it a step forward and pick one of the places and pray for the people there to join God’s community by following Jesus!

Memorize and Pray

To all who did receive him, he gave them the right to be children of God, to those who believe in His name. (John 1:12)

From the beginning, God created people to be in community. So many things threaten to tear that apart—outside threats like busyness and disagreements to inside threats like jealousy, unforgiveness, and insecurity. But you have a place to belong—both as a part of God’s family and as a part of our local church family. Take time to memorize this verse alongside your kids! Pray this month about how God wants you to say yes to being a part of His community.

Session 3: God Connects Us to Each Other

This week’s “All In” Bible story talked about Priscilla and Aquila in Acts 18, and how God connects us to each other. When we love and follow Jesus, we get to be in community with everyone everywhere who loves and follows Him too! Pull up a map on your phone and have your child pick a place. Find three fun facts about that place, then talk about how Christians here are connected with Christians there because we all love Jesus.

What are things that Christians have in common, no matter who they are or where they live?

Family Fun Friday

Cut several strips of different colored paper. On each piece of paper, write down the name of someone you know who loves and follows Jesus. Connect the strips together in a paper chain and talk about how amazing it is that God invites us all to be in community together!

Session 4: God Wants Us to Work Together

We had a great this week going “All In” as we learned that God wants us to work together. Ephesians 4 shows us what life together looks like. When we believe in Jesus, we get to be part of a community where we live, work, learn, and play together. This week, talk about different ways that you can encourage and build up other Christians that are a part of God’s family.

Take time today to pray as a family—talk to and listen to God. Pray these 4 things:

Thank God that He invites us to be in community with Him and others.
Ask God to help you encourage and enjoy the others in your community.
Pray for one another.
Pick one other person to pray for—pray for someone who isn’t part of God’s community to become a part of His community!
