This study explored how Indonesian migrant women who live in Perth navigate the local healthcare systems whilst still maintaining their cultural heath practices. The study highlights a series of barriers for these women such as language, accessibility and cultural differences. The research also examines common transnational health-seeking behaviours such as reliance's on traditional medicine and support from Indonesian networks both in Australia and Indonesia.

In the article, one type of philosophy focuses on creating good workers, which is the Indonesian philosophy. The other philosophy focuses on allowing students to build their own understanding of the world. The author argues that Indonesia is focusing on the student’s good grades instead of their intrinsic educational value.

The participating students in this article, faced language barrier issues in academic settings, e.g. surrounding their weekly module expectations and assignments. They didn’t receive assistance surrounding these issues and they had to solve it independently. They, however, enjoyed their experience in Australia.
