1. Islam: refers to the outward actions, including the five pillars of Islam:

   • shahadah

   • prayer

   • zakat

   • fasting

   • hajj

2. Iman (faith): refers to the belief system, consisting of six articles of faith:

   • belief in Allah

   • belief in His angels

At the end of the hadith, the Prophet Muhammad tells his companions that the person asking the questions was Jibril who come to teach them their religion.

These verses focus on the relationship between human responsibility, divine mercy, and the reliance on Allah's guidance and protections. They are often recited for spiritual protection and peace.

Examples of Ihsan:

• Helping others selflessly: Offering assistance to someone in need without expecting anything in return.

• Performing acts of worship sincerely: Praying or doing good deeds as though you see God, aware that He sees you.

• Excellence in everyday conduct: Treating people kindly, speaking truthfully, and behaving ethically in all situations.

Manners to parents based on surah maryam verse 42-46, telling about the manners of Prophet Ibrahim when he invited his father to worship Allah;

• Use good pronunciation

• Don't sneer at parents even if we think we are right

• Take care of parents' hearts, don't blame parents for mistakes they make

• Don't speak rudely

Sources of Hikmah in Ibadah
It can be derived from three main sources:
i. The Qur’an
The Qur’an explains the wisdom in every act of worship. For example, regarding fasting:

"O you who have believed, decreed upon you is fasting as it was decreed upon those before you that you may become righteous."
(Surah Al-Baqarah 2:183)

This verse shows that fasting is not just about abstaining from food and drink but aims to increase piety.

ii. Hadith of the Prophet ﷺ
The Prophet ﷺ emphasized the importance of worship in shaping a person’s character

The Prophet ﷺ said: "Indeed, the first deed that will be judged among people on the Day of Judgment is their prayer. If it is good, then the rest of his deeds will be good. If it is bad, then the rest of his deeds will be bad."
(Hadith narrated by Tirmidhi, No. 413

This hadith highlights that salah is the foundation of all other deeds.

iii. Experience and Studies
Personal reflection and studies by scholars and modern scientists have also proven the benefits of worship in terms of health, psychology, and social aspects.

2. Reasons for the Existence of Hikmah in Worship
Connecting a servant with Allah – Worship brings a person closer to Allah and strengthens faith.
Training the soul and character – Worship cultivates patience, honesty, and responsibility.
Bringing social and personal benefits – Acts like zakat and sadaqah contribute to societal well-being.

• Sincerely intend to worship only for Allah.

• Avoid distractions like showing off (riya’), doubts, and worldly concerns.

• Increase istighfar (seeking forgiveness) and repentance before worship.

2. Physical Preparation

• Ensure cleanliness and freshness (perform wudu properly).

• Wear clean and appropriate clothing.

• Choose a quiet and comfortable place for worship.

3. Understanding and Reflection

• Understand the meaning of recitations in prayer and supplications.

• Reflect on Allah’s greatness and our dependence on Him.

• Read the Qur’an and Hadith about the importance of khushu’ in worship.

4. Avoiding Distractions and Haste

• Turn off or keep away anything that may distract you, like phones.

• Set a proper time for worship to avoid rushing.

• Arrive early at the mosque for congregational prayers.

6. Multiplication of Rewards

• Every good deed during fasting is multiplied many times.

• Fasting is a special act of worship, and Allah Himself rewards it abundantly.

7. A Shield from Hellfire

• Fasting acts as a protection against Hellfire.

• The Prophet ﷺ said, "Fasting is a shield..." (Bukhari & Muslim)

8. Special Entry to Jannah (Paradise)

• Those who fast sincerely will enter Jannah through "Bab Ar-Rayyan", a gate reserved only for those who fast.

• Zakat and sadaqah purify wealth from greed and selfishness.

• It cleanses the heart from material attachment and develops sincerity.

2. Increasing Barakah (Blessings) in Wealth

• Giving zakat and sadaqah does not decrease wealth; instead, it brings more blessings.

• Allah promises to multiply the rewards of those who give in charity. (Surah Al-Baqarah: 261)

3. Helping the Needy and Strengthening Brotherhood

• Provides relief to the poor, orphans, and those in difficulty.

• Creates a sense of unity, love, and care among Muslims.

4. Protection from Hardships and Calamities

• Charity serves as a shield against difficulties in life.

• The Prophet ﷺ said, "Charity extinguishes sins like water extinguishes fire." (Tirmidhi)

5. A Path to Allah’s Mercy and Forgiveness

• Those who give generously are among those whom Allah loves.

• It leads to Allah’s forgiveness and helps erase past sins.

6. A Continuous Source of Reward (Sadaqah Jariyah)

• Some forms of sadaqah continue to benefit even after death, such as building a well, funding education, or planting trees.

• The Prophet ﷺ said, "When a person dies, his deeds end except for three: ongoing charity, beneficial knowledge, and a righteous child who prays for him." (Muslim)

7. A Key to Jannah (Paradise)

• Charity is a means of entering Jannah and receiving high ranks in the Hereafter.

• The Prophet ﷺ said, "Save yourself from Hellfire even by giving half a date in charity." (Bukhari & Muslim)

• Helping others brings joy, satisfaction, and contentment in life.

• It removes worries and increases gratitude towards Allah.
