In the poem, the girl is trying to grab something, symbolizing where she wants to be in her life, her goal. She stands alone because the only thing that is holding her back from where she wants to be is herself. Nothing is getting in the way except her own mind. Often times in reality that is what holds us back as people too. The bright color of her dress and the green grass shows that the girl is reaching for her goal in spring. Spring is typically a symbol for birth and in this case new adventures. When one struggles in life they are prepared for what is good in their life. The wavy ocean shows how difficult life can be, while the beach shows the peace, calmness, and the good parts of your life. In times of struggle, support from family or friends is something that is necessary to have. The lifebuoy symbolizes one’s support system. Often times, in difficulty, it is hard to be able to see what greatness there is in the future. The bad times can cause one to only focus on what is hurting them. The gloomy sky shows the sadness of how one may feel in a hurtful situation. If the focus is only on the bad it may be hard to see what goodness there is too come. The sun hiding behind the cloud is showing how great times are hidden in the most painful times. It is important to fight through your struggles, so one can experience joy.

The girl in black and white, is representing how sadness has taken her over. Unhappiness is all that is on her mind. In moments where someone is showing her love and support, the young girl is suffering with pain. The images and artifacts in the background were chosen as part of the image, because there were happy times in the past that are hard to remember in this moment. The young girl is only thinking about the present and what is making her feel so sad. The image is a little blurry because it can be hard to clearly understand why one feels unhappy. The creative piece does not tell the exact meaning, because it is for the audience to create on their own. In a piece with imagism all parts should be a descriptive sense. Imagism can be in any form of art, but it is often pointed out in poetry.  In this portfolio you will read a poem exploring a girl trying to reach her goals in life. Then you will see a drawing, which represents how one has to experience hard times for them too fully experience the good in life. After that, you will see a photo of a girl that is in black and white. She is drowned in sadness and the unhappiness is taking over her thoughts. It uses sight as the main source of imagery, and I am especially able to imagine "splash your great pines on our rocks."(H.D.) H.D. uses every word to help me see her poem more clearly. Also, I believe that this poem represents coming together. She uses the water and land coming together just like as people when we are complete opposites we should come together as one. We as a community can unite as one.  She uses the images of the ocean and land to represent unison as people. H.D. says "Hurl up, sea" (H.D.) and I envision that as making strides to become closer with each other.
