My name is Zhuoyan Liu and I am majoring in electronic engineering for the following years. One thing about me, which my classmates may not have the same is that I have already been an university student. I have graduated from a high school in China and went to UCLA( University of California, Los Angeles) through TOEFL and SAT. It was an valuable experience for me with its bright and negative sides. I was a physics major and I participated in several research groups(low temperature physics, plasma and others). It was delightful and fulfilling since pursuing a career in physics is a long-held dream for me. However, due to some personal reasons, I failed to complete my study there. The point I am trying to make is that I am probably more familiar with life in universities and the ways of maintaining tight shape academically. Besides, I had past experiences leading other undergraduates in my research group and I am confident that I have been a responsible leader during those periods.

During the past weeks which we have been engaging in online sessions and studies, I think it's safe to say that I have already helped my classmates and made suggestions to our tutors. For instance, For our ALS course, I had found some flaws the tutor made such as unable to submit our work via Turn it in, hard to find the session schedule and a blank content for our lab manual. I reported these findings immediately to Mr. Wiles and he made alterations according to my suggestions. In our physics course, especially during Breakout groups, I have been enthusiastic about discussing the tasks with classmates and helping out some difficulties they may have encountered. With my past experiences and knowledges, I believe that I can provide some visible helps to my classmates, especially during this particular unprecedented circumstance we are facing.

Giving the aspects I mentioned above, I think that I am a suitable elective for the student representative.

Hello, my name is Titar Aung. I am currently studying Science and Engineering Foundation Class. I am a high school graduate from a boarding school in Canada. I have to thank that school for really boosting my confidence to the fact that I applied and got accepted to be a student council member, which I also ran the school's first LGBTQ club and the mental health club. I started these clubs because many of the students couldn't afford therapists, or they have any questions regarding their sexuality, but they don't want the public to know about it. It was an amazing experience to listen to people breaking down about their problems, and I am still glad that I could help them even though it wasn't much because sometimes we just need somebody to talk to. Additionally, I was also in Model United Nations, Rockband, and Volleyball team. These experiences made me for who I am today, a positive teenager who is capable of time managing, leadership, and also has communication skills.
Although we are studying online due to the pandemic, I have already made some friends and always answer to their questions when they text to me. However, if the majority of us face the same kind of problem such as not being able to submit on "Turn it in", I would email the teachers right away. Moreover, since I am a people person, I would usually be the first one to turn on the microphone and talk in the study groups.
To conclude on why I am a suitable candidate to be the student representative, I am a very open minded and relatable person who has many leadership experiences. I am willing to be the voice of the students. If you have any more questions, please message me to the email below. I am more than happy to answer.

Email:
taung1@sheffield.ac.uk
