Instruction: GRR Lesson Planning:

Standard we are using this week: Determine the main idea.

Possible ideas: It may take several days, but we would start by modeling, then moving to a group instruction where I prompt students and then ask for input. Students would then work in pairs to perform the same skill. As an individual task, I will ask students to complete an exit ticket.

Team Members: Deb Osborn, Carleigh Roberts, Paul Fleetwood, Judy Fulton

We discussed how to encourage our students to participate more in class and how to get them to read more both in class and outside of class and comprehend the materials that they read.

We discussed the use of rewards for reading a set amount of pages. We discussed students who are not reading even though they tell us they are. We talked about modeling fluent reading by reading out loud to them and then having them read out loud to us individually or in groups by using readers theaters. We discussed having them pair share their books twice a week. We also have them share the books with teachers so we can check their comprehension and fluency.
