I believe that the poem touches the heart of many because as she mentions, “no one chooses refugee camps” (or such a life), the author portrays the helplessness of the refugees worldwide.
2) I chose this image because I think it represents the concept of leaving behind everything you once called home, due to political complications. I think it portrays the life of refugees because like she mentions in the poem: "no one leaves home unless home chases you", meaning that they cannot stand in their own country for a second, and they have to run away. 
3) When I think about the word 'home' I get a feeling of comfort and coziness because it reminds me of my family and all the things that make me happy, home is a place where I feel safe because there I don't feel like I'm alone.
4) I do consider Mexico my home because it's where I have lived throughout my life and all the memories I have here have been part of my identity.

  • What projects/activities can I design, participate or bring to create awareness and promote a sustainable social change?
    • I can begin to create different artistic cultural expressions promoting sustainable options and a general change in society. Like small campaigns and murals representing our main global issues. 
    • What did I learn about other cultures and perspectives by analyzing its art or cultural expressions? 
    I learned that the expression of one's culture, remarks the important parts of one's identity and values system. Also, through our appreciation of cultural expression, we each can choose the aspects of culture that further self-acceptance and insight.
    • How can art be useful to spread awareness about important global issues and promote social justice? 
    I think art promotes political activism and social justice causes in ways that science or politics never will. It is also an accessible tool for communication, raising awareness about social issues and affecting positive change.
    • Which was my favorite topic in this class? why?
    The one of framing meaning and stereotypes because it made me self reflect a lot about my identity and the aspects and factors that have transformed it. It also gave me the chance to understand why some truth's of people are incomplete.
