The first cause of racism against African Americans is African Americans used to be slaves. This stretches on for as long as slavery in America started. African Americans were captured and brought back to the mainland, just for the sole purpose of labor on farms. African Americans during this time were treated far less than equal. Even after the Civil War, which ended slavery, people still tended to treat African Americans unfairly. If it was still possible for racism to continue after a war determined to end it, it is still very possible for racism to continue to this day.

The second cause of racism against African Americans is the idea of white supremacy. This idea says that the race that should be held in the highest regard, above all other races, is Caucasian. People who believe in this idea tend to discriminate towards all other races that aren't caucasian, including African American. With this information, it's very easy to see how white supremacy could be a root cause of discrimination against African Americans.

The third reason for this discrimination is some people believe African Americans are treated better than their own race. The reason some people believe this is because of situations where they think African Americans were treated better than themselves and consequently believe people treat African Americans better. If some people believe this, they will most likely discriminate against African Americans for them to feel their hate.

Facebook, a major social media company, has excluded African American employees from their major tech companies in Silicon Valley. This shows how much people along with major companies exclude African Americans from many places. This is just one situation, in our community, that discriminates against African Americans

Another way this problem has affected the community is in the police force. In Cincinnati, cops have been reported for using racial slurs. This shows that cops, the very people who should be preventing racial discrimination, are participating in this themselves. Not to mention that other people, who are common citizens, use racial slurs as well. All of these instances where people use racial slurs, is a form of racial discrimination.

A third way this problem has affected the community is through Hilton. Hilton, a major hotel franchise, evicted an African American guest for making a call in the lobby. This guest did not do anything wrong, as he was just calling his mother because of a family emergency. The hotel's employees came up to him and told him he was causing a disturbance in the lobby, and seeing as he "did not have a room," he was not allowed on the premises. The guest told the employees he did have a room, which was true, but the employees proceeded to kick out the guest, discharge the room, and evicted him without refund. This shows that even a hotel, which is supposed to be welcoming and friendly, still shows racial discrimination.

The rest of the world should be concerned about this issue because not only is it unfair to all African Americans and other victims of racism, but there are many anti-racism groups throughout the world. YWCA, A.N.S.W.E.R., UNESCO, and IMADR are all anti-racism groups formed to stop the oppression targeting African Americans and other races. They do this by creating programs to end racism in all different countries. They also start rallies to peacefully protest against this unfair treatment. They do all of this to end racism, and if there are this many organizations determined to stop racism, then the rest of the world should surely care about this issue.

In the United States, groups are being formed to stop racism against African Americans. Some of theses groups are Black Lives Matter, The Civil Rights Organization, ERASE Racism, and CrossRoads Anti-Racism. These groups are forming rallies where they peacefully protest, attempting to stop racism. These rallies also show the rest of the nation how they are making a stand against racism. However, despite their efforts, racism still exists, and it is still going strong. This is what is currently being done to address this problem.

Being the target of racial discrimination is a lot harder than it seems. I try to apply for a job and then see a person who did worse than me in school get the job instead. When I finally get hired, I don't get promoted but I see coworkers who don't do any work get the promotion instead. When I go back home from work, I am surrounded by people who say racial slurs all the time. Because of this, my weekends are usually taken up by going to rallies and meetings where us victims protest against racism. I know it doesn't do much, but I try anyways. The meets always reassure me, because its encouraging to see others who are fighting racism as well. I just wish the world would recognize all of the victims of racism.
