My belief is that every patient has the right to be provided the best care possible. 

This comes from my personal experience of witnessing the care that was provided to my late grandfather. The healthcare professionals at that time did not treat my grandfather with a single ounce of respect as a patient; instead they ignored his needs and prolonged his suffering. 

It aches me to this very day knowing that my grandfather was not treated with any dignity, when that is one of the number one principles of health care professionals tie into their patient care.

In NURS 360, during our Psychiatric Mental Health rotation we had the opportunity to complete an online training course relating to the "Effective Treatments for Opioid Use Disorder." This online training covered concepts on addictive behaviors, substance-related, and various levels of treatments for each.

I volunteered with the non-profit organization, HUGS during my nursing pediatric rotation. During this time, I interacted with children and family members to provide respite care to these individuals. At each HUGs event, I participated and lead various games for members of the HUGS program for children of all ages. These learning activities focused on promoting peer interaction and facilitating in psychosocial development.
