         <description><![CDATA[<div>The olive brown metal we call BRONZE (now used for a copper-tin alloy) was apparently known in the Bronze Age.  A metal term from the Bronze Age with a B, R and Z ought to be considered .  If there were a metal term with a BRZ in Latin, nobody would doubt that BRONZE was merely a nasalization (extra N) of the Latin term.<br><br></div><div><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Bronze</strong> was developed about 3500 BC by the ancient Sumerians in the Tigris-Euphrates Valley. Historians are not sure how it was discovered. The discovery of bronze enabled people to create metal objects which were harder and more durable than previously possible. Bronze tools, weapons, armor, and building materials such as decorative tiles were harder and more durable than their stone and copper predecessors. Initially, bronze was made out of copper and arsenic, forming arsenic bronze, or from naturally or artificially mixed ores of copper and arsenic, with the earliest artifacts so far known coming from the Iranian plateau in the 5th millennium BCE. It was only later that tin was used, becoming the major non-copper ingredient of bronze in the late 3rd millennium BC. Tin bronze was superior to arsenic bronze in that the alloying process could be more easily controlled, and the resulting alloy was stronger and easier to cast. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Industry:<br>Phosphor bronze is used for ships' propellers, musical instruments, and electrical contacts. Bearings are often made of bronze for its friction properties. It can be filled with oil to make the proprietary Oilite and similar material for bearings. Aluminium bronze is very hard and is used for bearings and machine tool ways. <br>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Mirrors, medals and coins:<br>&nbsp;with coins, bronze has been used in the manufacture of various types of medals for centuries, and are known in contemporary times for being awarded for third place in sporting competitions and other events. Bronze mirrors survive from the Egyptian Middle Kingdom (2040–1750 BCE). In Europe, the Etruscans were making bronze mirrors in the sixth century BCE, and Greek and Roman mirrors followed the same pattern. Although other materials such as speculum metal had come into use, bronze mirrors were still being made in Japan in the eighteenth century AD.</div><div><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Bronze is a copper alloy, which means it is mostly copper mixed with another metal. Aluminum bronze has a density of 7.58 grams per cubic centimeter, while aluminum-silicon bronze has a density of 7.69 grams per cubic centimeter. One type of bronze consists of 5 percent aluminum and 95 percent copper. This bronze has a density of 8.17 grams per cubic centimeter. The density of bronze made with copper and manganese is 8.36 grams per cubic centimeter.<br><br></div><div>High-silicon bronze and low-silicon bronze have similar densities, but the density of low-silicon bronze is a little higher at 8.75 grams per cubic centimeter. The type of bronze with the highest density is phosphorus bronze, which consists of 1.25 percent phosphorus. It has a density of 8.89 grams per cubic centimeter.<br><br></div>]]></description>
