Proposal A: ovarian monster

When I see diagrams of ovaries and pictures of what’s inside it feels ailen-like. I embrace that idea by literally making it look like a monster. I think many people experience the monster that is periods too which further pushes the monstrosity.

For this one id probably bring a real life example. My parents work in spine and have spines they can use to display the product they make. That aside. I think it’d be pretty odd to see the spines twisted and curved in intimate ways. The intimacy adds meaning towards my current relationship, my partner has scoliosis and I sort of have a hunch in my neck. So it’d be loving in a way.

I wanted to apologize for the lack of progress pictures.
The medium itself restricted me from wanting to photograph for how my hands felt after every piece. Even touching it gave off either the soapy finish or the oily finish on my hands which made me less motivated for any progress.
That aside, I should've still captured my progress so I'll talk about it a bit more

Initally the oily clay was an issue because I was thinking very ceramically (is that a word) due to a large experience and use of ceramics from past art classes. SO to think additively without scoring was something else
Then onto the soap, I melted and used nail polish to get that "blood clot" effect that was raved about.
Sadly I didn't add the fallopian tubes and had issues with them so I melted the entire piece and re did it. I regret the inital melt for putting it in a large container (milk jug) because it restricted me more from what I wanted to make
When I found a nicer container, it was warped from the hot soap which made it an issue to get out but once out I took more breaths and focus and got the shapes I needed
Still the fallopian tubes were an issue. I decided to soak my carvings in boiled water to soften them and it seemed to work out on reattachment. It wasn't as solid, but it got the job done.
My favorite part was adding the teeth. I love how it encapsulated everything once I added the eyes and teeth and made me feel way better about everything.
I guess it looks like an elephant too.
