Seow Ling and Layla have been the best of friends since Primary 4. They were posted to the same secondary school and often ate together during recess and

hung out together. Seow Ling was convinced that they would remain best friends forever.

However, things began to change in Secondary 2 when Seow Ling noticed that Layla was spending more time with her CCA mates and started distancing

herself from Seow Ling. Seow Ling was upset and confused and took to social media to vent her frustrations, expressing how she felt rejected and abandoned, with life feeling empty. Layla got to know about it and left comments such as asking her not to be a drama queen. Seow Ling retaliated online and the situation worsened.

They eventually fell out with each other. Seow Ling began to lose her appetite and

stayed in bed for long hours every day as she felt too emotionally low and tired to

do anything.

I feel that Jay should start to improve his mental health first by prioritising himself instead of his games. I would first calm down, before beginning to regain composure by doing things I love to decrease stress levels. Then once both parties have calmed down, I would gently talk to the subject and discuss what went wrong and told her to confide in me and ask her to tell me what is going on.

Always control your emotions and never let it possess you
If you are feeling very stressed, talk to a close friend and let your emotions out either by ranting or just explaining the whole situation.

He should distance himself from his girlfriend as there was probably some reason to why she dumped him. He shouldn’t spend too much time thinking about why he was dumped but rather remember the good times he had and try to accept that his relationship has ended.
My suggestion to him is to try to help himself heal by concentrating on his mental health. He should spend more time with his friends, exercise more (gym rat lore???) and try new things to have an outlet for his sadness. He should focus on improving himself and try to connect to god more by praying and reading religious texts. My overall advice would be for him to try to move on and though it won’t be easy for him to move on, if he ever needs anyone to talk to, I wouldn’t mind giving him a hug and telling him that it will all be okay!

He should try to talk it out with her and maybe tell her how he hurt her and express his feelings after some time and who knows, maybe they could be friends?

Always prioritise yourself, not other people. Assist yourself before assisting others.
