Flash was created by Adobe and Shockwave was created by FutureWave Software .

What are the file extensions for them both?
Flash is .fla and Shockwave is .swf

What are the main differences between the two formats?
The .fla file type is considered a work in progress where as .swf is considered a finished file type. The . fla file type can only be used in Flash products. Where as .swf can be open on OS's that can support it.
