The theme of this book is love and gold due to the fact that the author is trying very hard to convey how love is affected by the money.

How can we work out what they are?
We can work it out by reading and understanding the idea and the topic that the author writes about in the book.  We can also learn by asking ourselves what did we learn from this and how did the characters grow?.

Love- The love between Jordan and Nick takes a huge part in this book. The books focus is shifting towards that idea and its getting more interesting every page I read.

The american dream in the 20s was very During the 1920s, the perception of the American Dream was that an individual can achieve success in life regardless of family history or social status if they only work hard enough.

How do you think your text was influenced by this? 
The american dream was a very heavy topic that was being talked about very much during the 20s. the style of writing is very old. We can see traces of the old writing style used by the respected author.

The Great Gatsby is a 1925 novel by American writer F. Scott Fitzgerald. Set in the Jazz Age on Long Island, the novel depicts narrator Nick Carraway's interactions with mysterious millionaire Jay Gatsby and Gatsby's obsession to reunite with his former lover, Daisy Buchanan

I believe that its very important for us humans because we base our ideas and idologies based on historical events that have occurred in the past. There are many cultures and history facts that need to be respected at all times.

How do we approach texts from different times and cultures to our own?
 To what extent do texts offer insight into another culture?
We approach the texts from different times and cultures differently. We have evolved and we have become an advanced civilsation where we are very open minded and careful with the decisions we take. People in the old times used to look at things differently such religions and sexuality whereas now we have complete opposite thinking and doing ideas. Texts are very important to every culture in the world. The history of a culture is written on books and stones and its our job to continue this idea and protect these sacred texts. They are very important because we can learn more about how the culture has evolved now.

How does the meaning and impact of a text change over time?
Its incredible how much the meaning of a text can change over time because we as humans tend to read things differently. We have completly changed our state of thinking and reading. The impact also changes with the meaning due to the way learn to read. for example if I say I want some banging soup it will be understood now but in a few years the meaning of that sentence will probably be lost. The meaning can also vary from who is writing the text.

How do texts reflect, represent or form a part of cultural practices?
As I stated before text plays a huge role in a culture. Our cultures have been recorded in writing. The pain and the joy has all been written down. The practice of the culture may vary due to the way the text is read.

How does language represent social distinctions and identities?
Language is the second most important trait a person can have. Different cultures have different languages and we use language to identify which culture we belong to. Language can also be used to represent a social construct and culture.
