Victor, as a scientist, can see what he has created, and is mortified, seeing it as some a very negative thing, as if his monster is some hideous mockery of life itself. As a creator, he eventually feels bad for and understands the monster, wanting to help him in this world, but in the end, he is still disgusted by the monster and does not want to see it go on.

Victor, being a man of science, is inevitably going to experiment; especially during the 18th century when technology wasn't easily accessible, and there was still much to discover in the world. Life is a topic of science that drives it all forward; it's how to preserve ourselves in the future or life as we deem it to be precious with the lack of its abundance throughout the universe. So as Frankenstein abided by nothing but his accessibility throughout the driving beginning of the main conflict throughout the story, he was limited to essentially nothing. With Frankenstein's ignorance, it's expected that there would be no boundaries to (not) cross. Such as how a child in drinking bleach does not yet understand the implications of doing so until the damage has been done and it has been uncomfortably pumped out of their stomach. Likewise, Frankenstein immediately learned of his actions after the damage had been done, and Frankenstein's Monster had been born. In the end, Victor, being a changed man, likely would've changed his outcome to protect those he loved, as he did when he refused to create a wife for his creation; fearing they'd reproduce and wreak havoc upon humanity. In that way, he sacrificed himself for the sake of humanity- knowing that it was his responsibility to do so. In this case, and in the name of science, I do believe his actions were justified. However, I do not agree with the life he had essentially banished to a life of torment, as that in a defining sense, is unethical and unjustifiable.

As a scientist Victor dreamed of creating life out of nothing, as he exclaims, "I had worked hard for nearly two years, for the sole purpose of infusing life into an inanimate body" (Shelly 58). After his creation was made, he was horrified and ran out of the room because his desire of bringing his mother back to life was shattered. As a creator, however, he knew that his creature, or "fiend," is now his own child, in a sense, and he slowly begins to feel sympathy towards the creature. I believe that Victor's actions and reactions towards the fiend was justified. After working on his creation for two years it is understandable to be shocked and horrified by the outcome. As a scientist they are usually meant to rinse and repeat experiments until it is "perfect." In this case, the creation of the Fiend was the success, but even still he wasn't happy because it wasn't what he hoped it would be.

First, Victor chooses to ignore ethics when creating the creature. While he is pursuing knowledge and making scientific discoveries, he is not making morally sound decisions regarding the life he is making. Second, after bringing the creature to life, Victor is horrified by his creation and abandons the creature. Finally, Victor refuses to take responsibility for his actions and the consequences that come with them and instead he avoids them. These consequences have an affect on his loved ones and even leads to death and tragedy which leads me to believe that his actions are not justified. If Victor took responsibility for his actions and tried to solve the problem, many of the tragedies that occur could have been avoided. -Charlie O'Brien

Initially, he pursued noble intentions, seeking to uncover the secrets of life and death to benefit humanity. However, Victor's increasing consumption of his experiments resulted in the creature's creation. This creation marks the moment where his actions become questionable, as Victor fails to take responsibility for it and abandons it immediately after its awakening. As the story progresses, Victor's actions continue to have devastating consequences. The creature's loneliness and despair drive it to seek revenge against its creator, leading to tragedy for Victor and those around him. Victor's refusal to take responsibility for his actions and his failure to show empathy towards his creation ultimately result in the destruction of his loved ones and his downfall.

As a scientist, Victor was justified in wanting to abandon his creation after realizing the monster he had created. From countless sleepless nights to finding body parts to piece together the monster in the dead of night, he suddenly realized his mistakes when the monster awoke and reached out to him. Victor fled in fear, not just because of the monster but because of the regret and shame of his actions. However, as a creator, Victor was not justified in running away from the monster when he came to life. Victor's realization of what he had created made him suddenly scared of the fiend and his own safety. Victor has every right to be mortified by what he has created, but actions have consequences. If he had thought things through and taken responsibility for his consequences, then the novel's tragic plot would have never occurred.

Overall Victor as a scientist is really morally wrong, his fascination is so strong that he looks over all the unfair acts and procedures he does in order to satisfy his needs. He goes over what is seen as correct and takes action in his own hands. His willingness to overlook others options says it all. As a creator his is not perceived as the best father like figure of care taker. Instead of taking pride in what his fiend looks like and his abilities his is neglectful and almost disgusted by is appearance. Victor shows much lack in his scientific practice as well as creator/ father instincts.
