Maintaining motivation is a mutual process; not only the Teachers but also the students have to do their own parts, as well.

Digital natives lack ideal l2 self mostly. Intrincis motivation is a must for students to be autonomous. Sometimes it is really hard to motivate students. I believe if students do not have a purpose to learn a language they are not motivated at all.

Motivation has many aspects. Intrinsic and extrinsic motivation are both important.However, Self is also important as I think it is the responsibility of the student as much as the teacher to motivate him/ herself. I really support Dörnyeis’ L2 motivation theory. Other than that Self determination theory in motivation is also important in that it emphasizes the significance of the individual again.
