However, we also shouldn’t have full assumptions of our full proficiencies in our ethical practice. We are able to tailor our counselling approach to the needs of the clients in a particular way that allows us to improve our efficacy as counsellors as well. We should be open-minded and acknowledge that we can always stand to learn as we continue our tenure as counsellors. Reflexivity allows us to be better counsellors (after getting ‘caught’).
