As the years go by, younger generations do not read as often, it seems to be more reading excerpts to prepare for standardized test (which we actually have to pay for with our taxpayer dollars, like what) than actually learning through reading novels. With the No Child Left Behind Act, teachers are more focused on getting the kids to just pass the standardized tests, and are forgetting about the importance of reading in general. We take the tests and don't recall any of the information from it and this same thing is happening with novels. We don't read books because we want to it's because we have to.
