 Connor is the first main character to be introduced. His parents chose to unwind him because of his record of being reckless and starting fights. He is so afraid of being unwound that he runs away and goes AWOL which means that he is on the run until he is 18 to avoid being unwound. After the experiences he has throughout the novel he begins to realize who he is as a person. Although she gets little page time during the book, her role is very significant. She is the only reason that Risa and Connor make it to the graveyard. Without her Connor, Risa, and their fellow AWOL unwinds would not have been able to find the graveyard.
