In Learning to learn I resisted a poem called the hotel caretaker. It is a poem about a caretaker In a Adirondack inn that doesn't believe in ghosts but then a paranormal experience occurred, and after that he does.
It was quite hard to memorise the poem but it was good after I had learned it.

In flourishing Friday, the year 7 and 8s used cards to play parachute with the younger ones, we instructed them to do curtain things with the parachute such as lifting it and letting go. (As my Card) We were in different teams and it was very fun.

Reading Aloud L2L

In L2L on the 18/10/23. My class read a book of our choosing, Aloud. I chose the book "Dread Wood", which is a book about 4 kids who go to detention on a seamingly normal Saturday, but they then find out that, for some reason, there are quite a lot of spiders about, and the caretakers keep whistling a strange tune. I got 12/25

Explorer Dome

On the 30th of November 2023 we traveled down to the sports hall, we went into the Exlporer Dome to discover the mysteries of light such as; How fast light is, how it keeps us alive and what different types of light there are. It was very interesting and everyone really enjoyed it.

I found that revising for my Exams really helped me remember things. Subjects that I didn't revise for like RS was a lot harder because I didn't have as much time for that. But subjects I did revise for like Maths, was quite easy. I feel like my note taking was good, but I need to work on subjects that I feel less comfortable on. I should of taken my school books home to read through them.

In our first PSPQ lesson, I learned about how to find accurate search results and about the 5 W's and The 1 H; Who, What, Where, Why and how. We also then learned about Bias and reliabilty with https://zapatopi.net/treeoctopus/. We learnt that if we can't find something accurate we can try using a different search browser.

Today in our PSPQ lesson in Learning to learn, my class filled in our proposal form for the PSPQ (which is next week). To start of the form, I wrote my question (Does responsibility for climate action sit with the government or the people?) and asked myself why I wanted to choose geography, and then I found some websites to look through that might help me with my research (10 Links in total). I think I will go to techniquest in Cardiff, to help me learn more about how to control climate change and what to do when controling.

In this PSPQ reasearch lesson, I did some more research on what the government are doing for climate change, to find that out I look at The Guardian - Individuals can’t solve the climate crisis. Then after reading that, I discided to find out what the world governments should be doing. For that, I watched some videos on YouTube to see what they are doing (Almost nothing) and what they should be doing (A lot more then what they're doing now. Then I divided to find out what people are doing to help against climate change, but they can't do a lot because they don't have enough power to change anything.

Paper Planes in Computing

In our computing lesson, we made and algorithm on how to make our paper planes that we did the week before. I believe this should go in the communication area, due to the fact that that we needed to communicate with each other in order to create instructions to follow.

In this PSPQ lesson, I put all of my research into 1 big Google Docs, so as to make it easier to find later on when I actually start the 1500 essay, I watched a few more videos and read a WWF article on what "ordinary people" can do against climate change. That included things about; cycling to school, not using a tumble dryer and contacting your local MP and asking them to bring up the matter in Parliment.

During this PSPQ lesson, I decided to start my final project. I started of by explaining what climate change is, then I started to explain what world organisations are doing about it, then I discovered that 1 electric car, saves around 1.5 million emission a year. Times that by the amount of electric cars on the road, then divide that number by the amount of greenhouse gases in the air and you get the amount of years it takes to save the amount of emissions in the air.

During this RS lesson, we started learning about Prophets (Not Profits). I created a drawing on what I thought a prophet was. We also worked together in groups to create a list of rules. Our group created the list included numbers from 1-5, but we had other options with the list aswell.

On Wednesday, me and two other boys from my class, drove up o Dean close to do some Dt. We made a bottle opener and we made a wine storage whitch uses gravity to be able to stand up. We where there for the whole morning. We waxed the wood instead of varnishing it as it would take to long.

Modern Day Prophets in RS

In Religious Studies, I did a drawing of Barack Obama and explained why he could be seen as a modern-day prophet. I got to choose someone I thought had qualities like a prophet, then drew them and wrote about it. I showed how Obama inspires people and has made a big impact, which is why I think he could be seen as a guiding figure for others. This project let me be creative by letting me pick and represent someone in my own way.

Touring around school

During an open day, I had the chance to tour some people around, showing them different parts of the school. As I walked them through the buildings, I explained what each area was for and shared some interesting facts. I made sure to answer their questions and try to make everyone feel comfortable and excited about what they were seeing. It was a fun experience because I got to interact with new people, and I could see how much good communication mattered in making sure everyone understood and enjoyed the tour. It also helped me improve my own skills in speaking clearly and making people feel welcome. This is communication because I was communicating with the person I was touring.

Day at We the Curious

Today, my Year and Year 7 went to We The Curious in Bristol, and it was such a cool experience. The exhibits were super interactive, which helped me look at science in different ways. Playing for u14s Dean Close

Playing for the under-14s team at Dean Close has been an incredible experience for me over the past few weeks. I've had the opportunity to play in four matches, all of which were immensely enjoyable. I'm especially excited about the upcoming match at Kingsholm in March, and I can't wait for the chance to represent the team again.

Every Tuesday, my year group goes down to the Pre-Prep to read with the Year 1 and 2s. It’s a really fun experience because we get to help them with their reading and see how much they enjoy the stories. Sometimes they ask funny questions or get really into the book, which makes it even better. It also helps us get better at explaining things and being more patient.

The Macbeth Play

This year in Drama, we did a play of Macbeth by William Shakespeare. I played Lennox, one of the Scottish lords. I really enjoyed acting in it and thought I did a good job, especially with projecting my voice so that everyone could hear me, even at the back of the hall. I made sure I knew my lines well and tried to act with expression to make my character seem real.

I think this was my best performance at St John’s so far. I felt confident on stage and was proud of how I did. It was also great to work with the rest of the cast — we all supported each other and worked hard during rehearsals. Our Drama teacher said it was the best play they had seen at St John’s since they started teaching there, which made us all really happy and proud.

UKMT Junior Maths Challenge

Today in Maths, we completed the Junior Maths Challenge. We used critical thinking to work through the different questions and tried our best to finish the test. Some of the questions were quite tricky and took a bit of time to figure out. Unfortunately, I didn’t manage to finish all of them, but I stayed focused and did as many as I could. It was a good challenge, and I enjoyed using my problem-solving skills.

Open Morning

Today I showed leadership by giving someone a tour around the school. I took the lead and made sure they knew where everything was, like the classrooms, the sports hall, and the lunch hall. I tried to be friendly and answer their questions as best as I could. I wanted them to feel welcome and not nervous. I think I did a good job showing them around and being responsible.
