In general terms, Chapter 3 "On Jackson's Island" of the book Tom Sawyer, is about a new adventure for Tom, Joe Harper and Huck Finn, where they decided to go to an island and did different activities to have fun, such as swimming, learning to smoke and preparing their food. They went through intriguing moments such as the happiest funeral in Peterburg's street and the final sentence of what happened in the graveyard. In this section we will describe the most important moments of this chapter.

1. Tom, Hucker and Joe decide to go to Jackson's Island.

Tom and his friends agreed to go to Jackson Island, and when they arrived, they started having fun and eating thanks to the fire from a bonfire they made. Later, they went to sleep, and in the morning, Tom and his friends were very happy and started swimming in the river to fish. After an excellent breakfast where they consumed six big fish, they started playing downstream while swimming. At sunset, they encountered many boats coming from St. Petersburg, making them wonder if they were looking for a corpse or if they were searching for them. Then they returned to their campfire. The next day, Joe and Huck were worried because they couldn't find Tom, but he was just swimming. Later, at their campfire, they started smoking thanks to Huck's pipe. Tom was curious and wanted to try it, so Huck made a pipe for him and his other friend. They managed to learn how to smoke, seeing it as something fun and crazy.

2. Tom, Hucker and Joe attend his funeral

In this section, Huck, Tom and Joe returned to St.Peterburgs and shyly entered the church where their funeral was being held, Aunt Polly and Joe's mother were crying too much for the "loss" of their loved ones, however, upon noticing their presence everyone was amazed and the mayor declared this event as the happiest funeral in St.Peterburgs.

3. Tom attends a trial to give his statement about what happened in the cemetery

In this section, the trial begins. The judge starts questioning Maff Potter about where he got the knife with which the doctor was killed. He responds that he found it in the cemetery that night next to the deceased body of Doctor Robinson, clarifying that it was his knife but he hadn't killed anyone. Muff Potter, with an unhappy face, asks to call Tom. Everyone in the courtroom turns their gaze towards him, and the judge begins asking Tom Sawyer questions. He asks him to tell everything, and Tom recounts what happened when he went to see ghosts with a dead cat and how Indian Joe murdered the doctor by throwing himself at him. Since then, Indian Joe has not been seen anywhere.
