1) What are the criteria for evaluating information?
~ The criteria for evaluating information is influenced by the CRAAP test. Currency; when was the information published, updated and/or revised, Relevance; is the information related/relevant to your topic, Authority; the source of the information, Accuracy; indication of the depth of the author's knowledge, Purpose; the reason for which the information exists.
2) How can the purpose of a website be determined?
~ The purpose of a website can be determined by assessing the objective of the site whilst ensuring that the information presented is fair, balanced and not biased.
3) Can a blog post or tweet be a reliable source of information?
~ Yes a blog post or tweet can be a reliable source of information, once the posts relates to the information needed and the author of these posts are recognized scholars.
4) What are some challenges of determining the authority of a web page?
~ There are situations where you can find a web page that has the information you may need, but the author and his credentials are not made available. This makes it difficult to check how reliable/ credible the information may be.
5) How can the currency of a web page be determined?
~ The currency of a web page can be determined by the time frame in which the information was published, updated and/ or reviewed.
6) Are all web pages with addresses ending in .org reliable?
~ No. Not all websites that have .org as its domain are reliable. We must still ensure to check the author's credentials despite the article being published by an organization.
7) When you looked at the video that compared the websites to Martin Luther King, what information was most significant to you?
What stood out to me was the fact that the domain tells us nothing about a sites credibility. Both websites on Martin Luther King had .org as there domain but the information presented was biased.

By using the CRAAP test, one should've been able to cipher the relevance and the purpose of the web pages, leading to realize that one page was biased and trying to sell something, whereas the other page was focused, objective and unbiased.

What are the criteria for evaluating Information?

Answer: It is my understanding that to evaluate the information that I gathered in the best way possible, I would have to implement a method of research called “The CRAAP test”. the “CRAAP TEST” is an acronym for multiple ways you can vet information thoroughly.

C: Is the information that you're evaluating fresh or stale, when was it last updated or “revised”.

R: Relevance; Can the information I’m looking at fit with the topic of my research. And is the reading level of the information too low, or too high for my targeted audience.

A: Authority: What is the credentials of the authors or editors, or is the article peer-reviewed or the book published by certified academic presses, or self-published.

A: Accuracy; is it accurately put together, is there a bibliography to be able to cite the research being evaluated.

P: Purpose; What is the reason for the information being presented, does the author of said information biased, or does he or she try to stay as neutral as possible on the subject given.

How can the purpose of a website be determined?

Answer: You have to make sure the author presents the information in an unbiased manner, it must not be leaning to one side of any argument, but fair to both sides of the discussion.

Can a blog post or a tweet be a reliable source of information?

Answer: Most times a blog can be a good source of information to be cited, however, some blogs do not have publisher or author contact information.

A tweet on the other hand would have most information required to cite it, except for the location.

What are some of the challenges of determining the authority of a web page?

Answer: sometimes it can be difficult to deduce who the author or publisher is.

After conducting a search on the world wide web about the topic : Credibility of a Web Page" I discovered that evaluating 4 areas would determine if the web page is credible, these four areas that would be evaluated include: the Author: Information on the Internet with a listed author is one indication of a credible site, secondly date: the date of any research information is important , including information found on the internet. By including a date, the website allows readers to make decisions about whether that information is recent enough for their purposes, sources: credible websites ,like books and scholarly articles should cite the source of the information presented, the domain: some domains such as .com,.org abd .net can be purchased and used by any individual. However, the domain.edu is reserved for colleges and universities. Finally, the site design would also determine credibility since a well designed site can be an indication of more reliable information. Good design helps information to be more easily accessible.

In general , blogs should not be considered as a reliable scholarly source according to an article taken off the world wide web. While it has been discovered that some blog post are written by real experts and can be a great source of some topics discussed in a blog ,many of the discussions are strongly opinionated and lack professionalism as a scholarly source.
Some blogs are filled with valuable information that can be effectively used in finding products and services. On the other hand , it has been established that information found on Twitter are truthful, but the services is also used to spread misinformation and false rumors , often unintentionally. After doing research on blogs at Costaatt 's library, I learned that " blog writers often have very different perspectives on developing stories from the more traditional news media" (Ann Marlow Reidling et al). The text book on information Literacy also paints a bad picture of blogs by stating that readers or researchers can end up being misinformed if they tryed to get all their news from the blog alone.

Websites with alot of audience interaction have a higher authority than websites that see little engagement from their users. One of the main problems is how the metric is misused. Novice SEOs are jumping on a metric and focusing on this are metric. Commonly they will: Only aim to get links over a certain metric.
