Refine Mason’s governance structure, policies, and accountability measures to ensure diverse, equitable, and inclusive practices. 

In working with prospective students, we want to ensure that we are making visits and events as accessible as possible by remaining accommodating and practicing inclusivity. 

Stakeholders need to be people that support the mission and vision that Mason wants to achieve - people that continue to break down barriers for groups that historically did not have access to college.

Steps to take: inclusive policy. Acceptance rate is equitable across different categories. Focus and working groups that address issues for students with different backgrounds and needs. Equal outcomes for all students. Are we acknowledging our own biases to make Mason more inclusive? 
How our role can contribute to this goal? Planning, setting goals, be intentional. Need to focus on the affordability of college. -We want to widen the windows of opportunity for students/staff to report or seek rectifying action when something happens that shouldn't (i.e. reporting an incident currently requires very specific forms within a very small window of time and if you miss it you're out of luck)
-Students and staff who may have experienced a problem with their professor or supervisor have power dynamics to work through and should be able to do that on their own timeline

So many of them have bias and it seems like nothing is changing. Do you know if the university is doing something about that?
Tell student to reach out to department head of faculty they are specifically concerned about - have they talked to the faculty they believe have bias? We want them to feel comfortable talking about how they feel.

Some of my classes have out-of-date readings, and sometimes I don’t feel like myself and my peers are seen in the literature. I would like to be at a college that encourages faculty to add more inclusive content to their curriculum. Do I have to go somewhere else?
Speak to the women and gender studies office, they are constantly trying to grow their library and connect with more people across campus. There are places for people to grow and feel safe. Speak to this office to see if they have suggestions to speak to your professors or department head regarding inclusive content in class. Mason Libraries might also have people that are willing to talk to you about content for Renee to even suggest to her professors to be using for their reading. I'd also encourage Renee to speak to the LGBTQ+ Center on campus and even join one of Mason's many LGBTQ+ student organizations (Pride Alliance, LGBTQ+ Living Learning Community, LGBTQ+ interfraternity, Queer student leadership council). Finding a support group or leadership group of other students that understand you might make you feel more empowered to address these issues.

I am also having a hard time getting access to inclusive mental health and health resources on campus. Can you help me find them? Do they even exist here?
